Zackary Taylor - The First Black Mighty Morphin Power Ranger

Zack attended Angel Grove High School.  He is a very enthusiastic, upbeat person.  Zack enjoys wearing monster masks to scare Trini and Kimberly.  He enjoys dancing every chance he gets - even on the stilts. The only thing that fazes this young man is bugs, mice and snakes.  Zack's close friends are Billy, Jason, Kimberly, and Trini.  They all attended the same high school.  They hang out and work out at Ernie's Juice Bar & Gym.  Zack, along with his friends, were selected by Zordon to battle Rita Repulsa.  Rita Repulsa had been released and her intention was to take over Earth.  Supporting Rita is her conquest is Goldar, Baboo, Squatt, Finister and the putties.  Although initially dismissive of being chosen, Zack soon discovers that he is right for the job.  Zack becomes the Black Mighty Morphin Power Ranger.

Zack's fighting style is hip-hop kido.  He taught hip-hop kido to his students and to Alpha 5.

Zack enjoys the various dances held at Ernie's Juice Bar.  He also likes hanging out with friends at the beach, study sessions in the mountains, going to fairs.  While his friends want a hamburger or Chinese food when they get hungry, Zack wants liver.

Zack was excited about his upcoming birthday.  The only thing was he couldn't track down his friends.  After checking with Trini's mom, Zack headed toward the Juice Bar.  But his friends were not there either.  The following morning, Zack could not contain his excitement over his birthday.  He saw Kimberly at her locker and headed her way.  Zack ask Kimberly if he looked any older - when Kimberly seem puzzled, he tried to drop a few hints.  But instead of remembering his birthday, Kimberly remembered her cat's birthday.  Zack could not hide the disappointment from his face.  Discouraged he walked away and headed towards his class.  Later in the day, he was alone and berating his friends.  Zack could not believe they had forgotten his birthday.  To his surprise, Rita remembered his birthday and sent down the Nasty Knight to battle him.  Zack quickly morph into action.  He was also joined by the rest of the Power Rangers.  The Nasty Knight was a tough opponent, but Zack figured out how to defeat him.  Afterwards Zack and his friends headed back to the Juice Bar - although Zack was really not in the mood.  When he entered he couldn't figure out why it was so dark and then to his amazement his surprise birthday party was revealed.  Zack was thrilled and couldn't believe his friends had him thinking that they had forgotten.  His trouble behind him, Zack leaped into the party and began dancing his heart out.

Zack had a crush on a lovely, young woman named Angela.  Angela did not feel the same way towards Zack and rebuff him several times.  Despite this, Zack was persistent in his pursuit of Angela - no matter how many times she turned him down.  Zack tried to give Tommy advice about asking Kimberly out.  He tried to show Tommy what to do by demonstrating his dance moves to Angela and asked her out - which Angela told him to drop dead.  In the Angel Grove Park there was a celebration for Power Rangers Day, where Zack asked Angela out.  Angela replied no but if he was a Power Ranger she would go out with him in a minute.  During the oddball games, Zack couldn't help teasing Angela a little as they sack raced against each other.  Later before a tug-a-war game, Zack offered Angela a spot next to him.  Angela told him to get real.  Angela ended up in the mud.  Zack gallantly put his red team shirt on the mud to help Angela up.  The following day, Zack was working out when Jason and Kimberly stopped Angela.  But Zack had decided that he had given up on Angela.  To Zack's surprise, Angela asked him out to a matinee.  It was an offer Zack could not refuse.  During the movie Zack's communicator went off and he had to help his fellow Rangers.  After the battle, Zack returned to the movie theater and apologized to Angela.  He explained his absence by telling her the popcorn line was really long.  Angela responded by putting the container of popcorn on Zack's head and leaving. 

Zack was performing a magic show for a group of children Angela was watching.  The show went smoothly and Zack charmed all the children there.  Even Bulk & Skull failed to upset the performance.  Angela was impressed with Zack's natural ability with children.  After the show, Angela gave Zack a peck on the cheek.  Zack's friends had witness the kiss and teased Zack - asking him when was the wedding.  Zack tried to act calm, but he was excited as well.  He decided to stay and clean up in order to talk to Angela again.  Zack approached Angela and soon they started talking.  Angela started to ask Zack out, when Ernie interrupted them.  A monster was attacking Angel Grove.  Zack knew he was needed.  He suggested a magic show to calm down the kids and had Bulk & Skull make him disappear.  Zack was soon busy trying to defeat the monster, but he was unsuccessful.  Zordon did not want the children to worry and sent Zack back.  Zack returned and soon came up with an idea on how to defeat the monster.  Afterwards, Zack was dressed to impress as he waited for his date with Angela.  Unfortunately for Zack, Angela had a different idea of their date.  Angela had the same group of kids with her, when she entered the Juice Bar.  Angela thought since Zack was so good with children he would want to go with Angela and them to a Saturday matinee.  Zack not wanting to appear foolish, agreed to go.

Zack couldn't stop himself from staring at Angela at Ernie's Juice Bar.  He knew her birthday was coming up and he wanted to do something special.  Kimberly and Tommy were there as well and he asked them for their advice about what to get Angela.  Tommy suggested flowers, but Zack wanted to something more.  Kimberly suggested a singing telegram.  Zack liked the idea of a singing telegram.  He also thought of getting her pearl earrings.  Tommy and Kimberly both tried to discouraged Zack from purchasing pearl earrings - thinking that he was trying to hard.  But Zack was enthusiastic about his idea and would was ready to set the plan in motion.  He also asked Kimberly and Tommy if they wouldn't mind going on a double date if he got Angela to agreed to go out with him.  Kimberly and Tommy both agreed to join Zack on his double date.  Zack was very nervous about asking Angela out and had to give himself a pep talk before he walked over to Angela's locker.  At first Angela was rather reluctant to go out with Zack again.  But when Zack mentioned a French restaurant, she became impressed and agreed to go out with him.  Zack was thrilled.  All he had left was to buy pearl earrings.  Zack began searching for pearl earrings and realize that pearl earrings where more expensive than he had figured.  Discouraged, he became walking through the park.  A man sitting on the bench spoke to the passing Zack.  At first Zack was cautious around the stranger - asking if he could help him.  But the man said he could help Zack and show him a coat full of jewelry - including pearl earrings.  The sight of the pearl earrings gave Zack a glimmer of hope as he moved closer to the man on the bench.  He asked if the earrings were stolen and the man replied that they were his late wife's.  When the man gave them to her, she fell in love with him.  That sealed the deal as far as Zack was concerned and he bought the earrings.  At the restaurant, Zack tried to impressed Angela by ordering for them all.  What he had ordered was frog legs which no one was really eating.  Zack grew more exasperated when Bulk and Skull approached their table to sing to them.  Angela thought it was another of Zack's jokes.  Zack stopped her from leaving by giving her a small gift.  Angela wasn't sure she should open it, as she assumed it was another of Zack's jokes.  But when Angela saw the pearl earrings she was pleasantly surprised.  Zack and Angela almost kiss when cake splattered over him and Tommy.  The two young men left to clean themselves up.  Kimberly encouraged Angela to try on the earrings and told her how nice they looked.  When Zack and Tommy returned they found everyone in the restaurant still as statues.  Zack and Tommy ended up in the Command Center where Zordon filled them in on Rita's latest plan.  Zack and Tommy managed to break the stillness spell and raced back to the restaurant.  Meanwhile, Angela discovered that her earrings were dissolving.  Zack barely made in back before Angela left, but she wanted nothing more to do with him and walked out of the restaurant.  Zack and the other Rangers still had more problems from Rita that they had to take care of.   After the battle, Zack wanted to try once again with Angela.  This time he wasn't going to try and buy her love.  He was just going to be himself.  Having Bulk and Skull playing the background music, Zack became singing towards Angela.  He was carrying flowers that he gave to her when he reached her.  Angela was touched and apologized to Zack for being so materialistic.  Zack and Angela kissed.  Zack finally won over Angela.

Zack and the rest of the Rangers were in shock when they found the Command Center wrecked, Zordon missing, and Alpha infected with a virus.  Further bewilderment followed when a Green Ranger attacked them.  On top of all this, Jason became missing as well.  Zack and Kimberly decided to try and find Jason while Trini and Billy tried to repair the damage that had been done.  Zack followed Kimberly into Ernie's Juice Bar as Tommy was leaving.  He bumped into Tommy and said hey, but Tommy pretty much ignored him.  Zack asked Kimberly if she had any luck and they both decided to try and talk to Tommy again.  They found him walking in a park and called out to him.  Tommy never turned around.  Zack and Kimberly were attacked by putties and by the time it was over, Tommy was gone.  Rita summoned up a new villain, Scorpina.  Scorpina gave the Rangers a hard time.  Finally Jason was located and morphed back into the Command Center.  The Rangers had Alpha up and running as well.  In another battle the Rangers lost their megazords.  Zack, Kimberly, Trini, and Billy were very discouraged and wanted to give up.  But Jason did not and tried to keep his team together.  Alpha had some information for them and the Green Ranger's identity was revealed.  It was Tommy.  Zack and his friends were in shock.  They came to the conclusion that Tommy had to be under a spell and they needed to help Tommy as well as the world.  The Rangers went into battle and during the battle, their power coins began to glow.  Zordon was back.  The Rangers destroyed the sword of darkness - which broke the spell over Tommy.  The Rangers demorph and invited Tommy to join their team.  Tommy joined the Rangers and they became a powerful team of six.

Zack is a very talented dancer.  In the Juice Bar, he was getting ready to compete in a dance contest and was practicing very hard.  Bulk challenge him to a dance duel and tried to copy Zack's every move.  Bulk ended up on the floor.  Uncharacteristically, Zack was not confident about the dance competition.  He felt like he would blow it despite his friends encouraging words.  Zack left in frustration.  He was outside when his friends found him.  Rita had launched another attack that was causing the ground to shake.  Soon, Zack and his friends were surrounded by putties.  After they took charge of the putties, they were attacked by Mutitis.  Zack and the rest of the Rangers thought they had defeated Mutitis, when Rita called forth Lokar.  Lokar was able to increase Mutitis's power.  Their megazord was soon covered in a toxic foam.  Zack and his friends  ejected out of their megazord and soon found themselves falling onto an island.  Zack discovered that they had no morphers or power coins.  Zack and the rest of the Rangers were nervous as they explored the island.  Goldar appeared in the sky and informed them that they were on the Island of Illusion.  As they continued to make their way through the island, Zack thought he spotted a small man but dismissed it when he tried to explain it to the others.  Piercing music filled the air and the source was the small man Zack had spotted.  Things did not go well when they tried to talk to Quagmire.  Quagmire thought they were friends with Rita and wanted nothing to do with them.  With no other options, Zack and his friends continued their search.  Goldar sent a bunch of previous defeated monsters toward them.  The Rangers readied themselves for the battle and the monsters simply vanished.  This became too much for Zack and he became desperate to find a way to leave the island.  Zack's screams reached his friends.  When his friends reached him, they could not understand his terror.  While his friends could only see a tree branch, Zack saw a huge snake.  This shock Zack up even more and to the disbelieving eyes of his friends, part of him began to fade away.

Trini, Kimberly, Jason, Billy, and Tommy began calling for Quagmire.  Quagmire appeared and tried to help the Rangers.  Zack began to remember a battle he had with the Dark Warrior.  That memory cause his confidence to return although with his body.  Zack witness the rest of his friends go through the same ordeal.  One by one they broke through Rita's spell.  Once their confidence was back, they discovered that they had their morphers and power coins the entire time.  It was time to defeat Mutitis and Lokar.  Afterwards it was time for the dance competition.  Zack was still a little nervous, but his friends gave him confidence to go forward.  He competed in his usual flair and won the competition.

Zack enjoys volleyball, weightlifting, basketball, surfing, skateboarding, scuba diving, and roller blading.

Zack also involves himself in projects that help the world he lives in.  He cares about the environment and spend time picking up trash and planting young trees.  Zack also participated in a food festival that raised money for playground equipment for a pre-school facility.

Zack and his friends were excited about an upcoming event.  The city of Angel Grove had declared a Power Ranger day and were hoping the Rangers would show up.  Zack and Jason walked through the crowds of people who had shown up for the event.  They were impressed with the turnout.  Trini, Kimberly, and Billy soon joined them.  Zack couldn't wait to morph - he wanted to impress Angela.  They were about ready to discreetly leave to morph, when Bulk and Skull pushed their way through the crowds.  Bulk and Skull were on stage announcing that they were Angel Grove's new heroes.  A young man asked Bulk and Skull for a demonstration of their power and soon Bulk and Skull were doing various poses.  Zack laugh as hard as the rest of the crowd at the antics of Bulk and Skull.  Suddenly Bulk and Skull vanished.  Followed by the rest of the crowd vanishing as well.  Zack and his friends were bewildered by this chain of events.  They knew Rita had to be up to something.  Soon Zack and the rest of the Rangers were in an intense battle with Cyclopsis that left their zords weak.  Zack and the rest of the Rangers had to regroup.  Assuming she had taken out the Rangers, Rita landed her palace on Earth.  Rita then proceeded with another attack.  The zords were not back to full power and would need another twelve hours.  Zack and the rest of the Rangers felt like they could not wait that long.  They had to take the zords and battle.  Zordon warned Zack and his friends that they could be destroyed but they were determined to save the people of Angel Grove.  The battle became too much and the Rangers had to abandoned their zords.  They landed in the park and were unable to communicate with Zordon.  Zack and the other Rangers were not ready to give up.  Billy thought he could change the frequency on the communicators and they raced to Billy's garage.  As Zack and his friends waited anxiously for Billy to adjust their communicators, Goldar and a few putties showed up at Billy's garage.  Zack, Jason, Trini, and Kimberly positioned themselves for a battle.  Billy managed to adjust the communicators and soon all five of them had morphed into the Command Center.  Zordon had good news for the Rangers.  Alpha was able to access Rita's data banks and found a weakness of Cyclopsis.  Zack and his friends were ready to battle once more using different attack modes to confuse Cyclopsis.  It worked and Cyclopsis was destroyed.  The people of Angel Grove were returned.  Zack and the rest of the Rangers were morph and in the park as well.  They walked through the crowds and onto the stage.  Zack and his friends stood on stage and listened to the well earned applause and cheers of the crowds.  Later Zack and his friends were back at the Command Center.  Zordon congratulated them on a well done job.  Zordon also offered them an opportunity to leave if they wished.  Zack and the rest of the Rangers were not ready to give up being Power Rangers at this time.

Zack was with his parents in Ernie's Juice Bar for Parent's Day.  He got annoyed with Skull when Skull zoomed his video camera at his parents.  Once rid of Skull, Zack and Jason were soon talking.  Their communicators went off.  Kimberly and Trini were being attacked by putties outside the juice bar.  Zack and Jason left to help Kimberly and Trini.  After the battle with the putties, Zack, Jason, Trini, and Kimberly returned to the juice bar.  When they entered they found the place empty.  Zack, Trini, Kimberly, and Jason were concerned that Rita was involved and morphed to the Command Center.  There Zordon informed them that Rita had unleashed the Dramole.  The Dramole had transported all the parents into another dimension.  Dramole's gas had also turn Billy's into Rita's servant.  Billy had taken the dragon dagger and intended to give it to Rita.  Zack and the rest of the Rangers left to try and stop Billy, but they were too late.  Goldar had possession of the dragon dagger.  Goldar also told Zack and the rest of the Rangers that if they wanted their parents back, they would have to give him their power coins.  Zack and the rest of the Rangers were adamant in their refusal to give Goldar their power coins.  Goldar had a hourglass which he turned over.  Goldar informed the Rangers that they had until the last grain of sand to turn over their power coins and then left.  Billy's spell had been broken the moment Goldar had taken possession of the dragon dagger.  Zack and his friends tried to come up with a plan to save their parents.   They were unsuccessful.  Zack and the rest of the Rangers decided to give their power coins to Goldar in exchange for their parents.  Zack watched Jason and then Kimberly give their power coins to Goldar and then demorph.  Zack went next and demorph the moment he handed over his power coin.  Trini and Billy were last.  Then Goldar dealt a devastating blow, he would not return their parents.  Zack and his friends were furious.  They couldn't believe they had trusted Goldar and felt helpless now that Goldar had all their power coins.  Jason revealed that Goldar did not have all the power coins and showed them Tommy's coin.  Awhile ago, Rita had drained Tommy's power with a green candle.  In order to prevent Rita from obtaining the Green Ranger power's, Tommy had given his power coin to Jason.  The Rangers needed Tommy's help.  Tommy was located and morphed to the Command Center.  Tommy was filled in on what had happened and soon a power transfer from Zordon to Tommy was conducted.  Tommy was the Green Ranger again and went after Goldar and the power coins.  Tommy was successful in retrieving the power coins.  Zack, Billy, Kimberly, Jason, and Trini used their power coins to revive Zordon.  Tommy had been weakened in the attack and could not help them.  Zack, Kimberly, Jason, Trini, and Billy then went into battle.  Later, Tommy was able to join them.  The Rangers were successful in the defeat of Dramole and of Rita's plan.  Zack and his friends parents were returned to Ernie's Juice Bar with no memories of what had happened.

Because of Rita's constant defeat by Zack and the rest of the Rangers, Rita was replaced by a more powerful opponent.  Lord Zedd arrived to conquer Earth and the Rangers.  Goldar, Scorpina, Baboo, Squatt, and Finister all stayed with Lord Zedd.  Lord Zedd had his own brand of putties called Zedd's putties.  Zack and the rest of the Rangers were up to the new challenges of Lord Zedd.

Zack is close to his family.  As mentioned before, he would give up his power coin for his parents.  Zack was very thrilled and excited when his cousin, Curtis, joined him at Angel Grove High School.  Music seems to run through the family.  Zack is a talented dancer, his cousin Curtis plays the trumpet, and Zack's Uncle Ed is a famous jazz musician.

A peace conference was being held in Angel Grove.  The peace conference was leaving for Switzerland.  Three teens were selected to go to Switzerland.  Zack, along with Jason and Trini were selected.  With his zest for living, upbeat attitude, and charm, Zack is a natural at the peace conference.
