Ernie - Richard Genelle

Ernie is the owner of the Angel Grove Youth Center Gym And Juice Bar. The place allowed teenagers to work out and the have a smoothie afterwards. Ernie was a one man operation. In addition to being the owner, he ran the place as well. Ernie was cashier, waiter, clean-up, and friend. His place was always packed. It was a favorite place of many teenagers, including Kimberly, Trini, Billy, Jason, and Zack. Jason also taught a karate class at the Youth Center. It was a Saturday and the place was packed as usual. After the karate class, which Billy was one of the students, Trini, Billy, Jason, Zack, and Kimberly all sat at a table together. Ernie walked over and talked to the teens. Suddenly the place began to shake. Ernie thought it was an earthquake and everyone (except Billy, Jason, Zack, Kimberly, and Trini) raced out of the place. It would turn out that the earthquake was actually Rita Repulsa attacking Angel Grove.

Ernie was walking with a customer towards the counter. He was telling his customer about a monster attacking Angel Grove and the group of superheroes who had destroyed the monster. Ernie had learned the superheroes call themselves the Power Rangers, and he related this to the customer.

Jason was attempting to break the bench press record. Ernie sat by him counting each press. Ernie had a sub in one hand and a drink in the other. He was dressed in workout clothes. A crowd had gathered behind Ernie and they were all rooting for Jason. Kimberly walked over, after she had finished her balance beam routine. Kimberly asked him how far Jason had gotten and Ernie replied with his mouth full. Kimberly asked him if he could tell her again, but without the sub. Ernie swallow and told Kimberly Jason was very close to beating the record. Kimberly was very excited. So was Ernie - Angel Grove High was going to have a new champion. Jason asked Ernie what the count was and Ernie realized he had lost track. Ernie leaned down and asked Jason if he could go again. Jason was frustrated, but he tried again. Jason had to do 1010 bench presses to beat the old record. Ernie started counting once more. Kimberly stayed and watched as well. Zack had entered the Youth Center on his skateboard. Someone in the crowd noticed Kimberly's bubble. The bubble was enormous. Zack couldn't stop and ran right into Kimberly causing both of them to end up with gum on their faces. Jason was bumped as well and he dropped the bar. Jason couldn't bring himself to try again. Ernie changed into his normal working clothes and worked behind the counter. Zack called out for another round of fruit shakes. Ernie got them started. A few moments later, Ernie was walking over to the table where Jason, Zack, and Kimberly sat. Ernie heard a strange sound. Jason, Zack, and Kimberly covered up the communicator on Jason's wrist. Zack told Ernie it was a new watch and asked Ernie to put the drinks on his tab as they hurried outside. Later that day, Ernie was back in his workout clothes. He had gotten a cake to celebrate the fact that Jason had beaten the bench press record. Ernie wheeled the cake and told a customer not to touch the cake. Ernie stopped in front of Trini, Billy, Jason, Zack, and Kimberly and presented the cake. Jason noted the cake said "Happy Birthday Mom". Ernie asked him what did he expect for the last minute. It was the only cake left. Ernie left them to the cake, which Bulk would fall into moments later.

Kimberly was teaching a aerobics/dance class at the Youth Center. Ernie came dancing in with a cart full of towels. He went to the back of the class, still dancing away. Ernie accidentally bumped into Billy, who fell into the cart. The cart went careening through the dance class. Billy wave his arms to have people move out of the way. Billy crashed into the hall where the lockers are, but soon reappeared, still on the cart as it made it's way back through the dance class. Billy then crashed into the wall. The dance class ended. Ernie was behind the counter talking to Jason. Melissa, Kimberly's deaf student, came running in. It was obvious he was trying to tell them something. Jason asked Ernie if he knew sign language, but Ernie did not. Melissa grabbed the notebook and pen from Ernie's shirt pocket. Melissa wrote that her friends were in danger. Jason immediately got up and told Melissa he would help her. Jason and Melissa left. Later that day, Ernie brought over a tray of sodas to a table where Kimberly, Melissa, Jason, and another girl sat. Billy, Trini, Zack, and more girls stood close by the table. Ernie told them the sodas were on the house and everyone cheered.

Ernie had the Youth Center host the Cultural Food Festival. The money from the festival was going to be use for the daycare/preschool playground equipment. Ernie walked in with two trays full of pies. He was very impressed when he walked in. The place was busy, as kids set up their various booth. Mr. Caplan was there as well. When Ernie entered, two Hawaiian dancers greeted him. Ernie noticed that Bulk & Skull weren't doing anything and call them over for help. Bulk & Skull thought Ernie meant help with the dancers and hurried over. Ernie corrected them and had them help with the pies. Trini, Billy, Jason, Zack, and Kimberly were there as well. Ernie walked over to them and told them they need to hurry as the doors opened in ten minutes. Ernie walked away. A massive food fight that took place, and Pudgy Pig who also came to the Youth Center to eat the food. Ernie asked where are the Power Rangers when you need them, before taking off. But, thanks to Mr. Caplan and Alpha 5, the festival did raise enough money for new playground equipment.

Ernie was working when Kimberly came up and asked if he had seen a young girl with long, black pony tails. Ernie hadn't. Later, Ernie served the Ernie Surprise to Zack. The Ernie Surprise is a huge bowl of ice cream. Ernie told Billy and Jason theirs was coming next. But the guys were gone when Ernie brought theirs out. The next day, Ernie was watching the TV sitting on his counter. Several of the customers were watching the TV as well. A news reporter was reporting the days' event. The Mayor of Angel Grove had given the Angel award to a group of kids who had recycle trash in order to prevent further trash in the dump sites. Ernie and the customer nodded their heads in approval. Then the news reporter reported how the Power Rangers had a lengthy battle with one of Rita's monsters. The monster, Chunky Chicken, was destroyed and the young girl, Maria had been rescued. The news cut to show Maria telling the reporter she is the most popular girl in her class. The news reporter continued by stating they will keep Angel Grove posted on more Power Rangers news. Ernie and the customer nodded their heads in agreement. Ernie then called out to Kimberly and asked if she could help with the chili. Kimberly held the bowl of chili over her head and asked the customers if they wanted Ernie's chili. Ernie announced that he had just made it and it was on the house. The crowd rush over. Kimberly lost her balance on the bowl and it dumped on Bulk. Kimberly apologized as the rest of the crowd laughed.

Ernie was behind the counter, talking to several of the customers sitting there. Bulk & Skull were there as well, sitting and eating at a table. Their minds had been switched, but Ernie and the customers did not notice. Later, Bulk & Skull would be switched back.

Ernie had the Youth Center host the Angel Grove Junior Science Fair. Several booths and tables had been set up. The inventions and machines displayed were very impressive. Ernie and one of the judges try out one of the inventions. The invention was a holo game that Willy, a young friend of Billy, had made. The holo game made you feel as if you were on a roller coaster. Ernie and the judge enjoyed the game immensely.

Trini had a dream in which Zack and Jason were sparring at the Youth Center. Kimberly stood by and watched them with her arms full of boards. After they were done sparring, Jason practice breaking the boards. Bulk & Skull watched them from the counter. Ernie walked up to the counter with a chocolate cake and placed it on the cake display stand and then walked away. Bulk decided to show off his skill by breaking the cake. Bulk hurt his hand on the cake stand. This was the only part of the dream Ernie was in.

Kimberly, Trini, Billy, and Jason had asked Ernie if he could let them plan and have a surprise birthday party for Zack at the Youth Center. In his easy going manner, Ernie told them yes and he stayed late so they could work on the party. Billy had brought over an invention of his - the cake-o-matic. The cake-o-matic began to make strange sounds and Ernie went over to see what the problem was. Ernie couldn't figure it out. He opened the door and cake batter began pouring out. Ernie started hollering for Billy. Trini and Kimberly sat at a table together. Trini had been painting a banner and Kimberly was blowing up balloons. Billy had headphones on and was dancing around to the music. Billy didn't hear Ernie yell for him. Kimberly and Trini also started yelling Billy's name, but he still didn't hear. Kimberly got up and took the headphones off. Kimberly told Billy that she was glad he enjoyed the music, but Ernie needed his help. Ernie had slid onto the floor and cake batter was pouring down on him. Billy hurried over to try and fix it. Billy kneel down to Ernie and told him he guess he still had a few kinks to work out. Ernie replied that he hated machines. Ernie left to clean up. A short while later, Ernie returned and stood behind the counter. Trini was on the floor, working on the banner. Kimberly told her it looked okay, but Trini knew Kimberly was joking and told her to get back to work. Kimberly hopped onto the counter and continued with the balloons. Kimberly asked Billy what was wrong. Billy couldn't figure out what had gone wrong with the cake-o-matic. Jason entered with a couple of paint cans and asked if there were problems. Ernie told him the cake-o-matic went on the war path and nearly drown him in cake batter. Everyone chuckled. Jason thanked Ernie for letting them set up for Zack's birthday party. Ernie commented that Zack was really going to be surprised. Ernie had another surprise and it was about the Power Rangers. Billy and Jason took a few moments before they realized who Ernie was talking about. Ernie was confident that the Power Rangers would do for Angel Grove what Batman has done for Gotham City. Jason asked Ernie what he had heard. Ernie told them that the Power Rangers were regular humans, like them. Jason told Ernie that he had heard that the Power Rangers were space aliens from a distant planet. Ernie was totally blown away. Jason asked him to keep it under his hat, they wouldn't want to panic people. Ernie walked away, still blown away over the possibility that the Power Rangers could be space aliens. The following day, the party was set up and the teens stood waiting in the dark. Kimberly, Trini, Billy, Jason, and Zack entered the Youth Center. Zack wondered why the lights were off and where Ernie was. The lights flickered on and Ernie and the crowd shouted Happy Birthday Zack. Zack was totally blown away. Zack gave his friends a big hug. The cake-o-matic began making strange sounds once more. Ernie hurried over, muttering he thought the machine was fix. Once more cake batter began to pour out of it. Billy hurried over to help Ernie. The band began to play and everyone else started dancing. The party was a big success.

The Youth Center was hosting a dance later that evening. The place was packed with teens helping to decorate. Ernie walked in carrying a large cake. Bulk was on a skateboard and headed straight for Ernie. Bulk was unable to stop and crashed into Ernie and his face fell into the cake. Ernie was knocked down to the floor. Billy, Jason, Zack, Kimberly, and Trini gathered around. Skull asked Bulk if he was sure this was where he wanted to go? Jason, Zack, Kimberly, Trini, and Billy laughed. Ernie was not amused. Ernie grabbed a hold of Bulk & Skull and told them they had to follow the rules. Bulk & Skull needed to reimburse him for the cake or just don't come back. Ernie tossed Bulk & Skull out. That evening the dance was a huge success at the Youth Center. Bulk & Skull had come disguised in long coats, fake glasses and mustaches. Ernie walked up to them and removed their fake glasses and asked them if they really thought they could fool him? Ernie started dragging them to the exit - telling them they needed to reimburse him for the cake. Bulk told him okay, he just needed to go to the bank. Skull pleaded with Bulk not to. Bulk sat down and removed his shoe. Skull covered his face. Ernie asked him what he was doing. Bulk then removed his sock to reveal his very dirty foot. The money was between Bulk's toes. Bulk removed the money and told Ernie this should do it. Bulk waved the money under Ernie's nose. Ernie began to feel faint and fell into the cake. Billy, Marge, Jason, Zack, Kimberly, and Trini raced over and helped Ernie back up. Jason joked that it was not time for cake - they still have to serve sandwiches. Ernie removed some of the cake off his face as he agreed. Ernie told them first he had to work up an appetite and suggested dancing. Ernie danced his way onto the dance floor. A conga line formed behind Ernie as Kimberly, Trini, Marge, Billy, Jason, and Zack danced their way onto the dance floor. Ernie had a great time dancing and the party was a success.

Ernie was working behind the counter. Angela was at the counter, talking to him as he made her smoothies for her tray. Zack and Jason were sitting at the counter. Further down was Kimberly and a boy. Bulk & Skull enter and headed over to the counter, pushing people out of the way as they went. Zack and Jason had been imitating/mocking Kimberly and the boy. Zack had gotten up and accidentally knocked into Angela, who was carrying the tray of smoothies. The tray went flying and the smoothies landed on Bulk & Skull. The place erupted in laughter

Ernie was working behind the counter at the Youth Center. He overheard Billy commenting that he wished that he had Jason's moves. Ernie asks Billy if he would move the containers to the recycling bin? Billy tells him yes and gathers up the empty containers. A few moments later, Ernie is polishing the counter when he finds a jar on the counter. Ernie has no idea what it is, but polishes it up. Ernie receives several black balloons and the note tells him to deliver them to Trini. Ernie takes the balloons over to Trini, who is at the Youth Center with her friends. Ernie returns to the counter and the mystery jar still puzzles Ernie and he spends some time trying to figure out what the jar is for. Ernie takes the jar away and later returns it back to the counter. The jar is Uncle Howard's invisibility formula. When the jar is returned to the counter, Uncle Howard finds it and takes it back.

The Youth Center was hosting Angel Grove's Martial Arts Expo. The place was packed with competitors and spectators. Ernie stood on the sidelines and watched the competition. There were many impressive displays of martial arts. Jason was in the competition. Jason was up against a new kid, Tommy. Ernie watched as Jason and Tommy fought each other. It was a close match as both guys gave it their all. The match ended and there was no winner, as Jason and Tommy tied.

Ernie is working behind the counter when Kimberly walks up. Kimberly asks Ernie if he has seen Jason? Ernie tells Kimberly he hasn't seen Jason for awhile. Ernie asks Kimberly if she thinks Jason is in trouble or something? Kimberly doesn't know. Bulk & Skull enter and walk up to the counter. Bulk & Skull are standing on either side of Kimberly. They had overheard Kimberly's conversation with Ernie and offer to help. Skull adds that missing persons are their specialty. Kimberly replies thanks, but no thanks. Bulk tells her they work cheap. Ernie pipes in and asks what is cheap? Skull replies they take payment in kisses and blows a kiss toward Kimberly. Ernie is repulse by the idea. Kimberly surprises them by agreeing. Kimberly instructs Skull to close his eyes, which Skull does. Ernie tells Kimberly not to do it, but Kimberly knows what she is doing. Skull leans in for a kiss just as Kimberly steps back. Bulk is laughing and unaware that Skull is heading straight for him. Skull gives Bulk a kiss on the cheek. Bulk is no longer amuse. Skull opens his eyes and is horrified that he just gave Bulk a kiss. Bulk wipes his cheek off as Skull wipes his lips off. They are both disgusted. Bulk chases Skull out of the Youth Center. Kimberly asks Ernie if he sees Jason, to tell him that they are looking for him. Amused, Ernie is more than happy to do so.

Giant Goldar is attacking Angel Grove. The attack can be felt at the Youth Center as the building starts to shake. Ernie instructs his patrons to calm down and get out of the building before it collapses. Ernie and his customers quickly leave the building.

Ernie, Bulk & Skull, and several other patrons are watching the TV. The TV shows giant Goldar's attack on the city. Kimberly enters and walks up to the counter. Ernie can't believe the attack is happening. Kimberly agrees that it is terrible. Ernie is grateful they have the Power Rangers. Bulk tells Ernie he should be thanking them. Bulk adds that they were the ones who helped the Power Rangers scare off that big, ugly, gold guy. Kimberly, who knows better, replies right. Skull tells them they are the ones who should be on TV. The thought of being on TV makes Bulk daydream for a moment. Kimberly catches Bulk's daydreaming and tells him to dream on. Bulk is a little let down. Kimberly asks Ernie if he has seen Tommy? Ernie points out where Tommy is working out. Kimberly thanks Ernie and walks over to Tommy.

Tommy is working out with his bo staff. A couple of girls are watching Tommy. Ernie walks over to them and hands them a couple of towels. Ernie is impressed with Tommy's workout and talks to the girls about it before leaving.

Kimberly and Tommy enter the Youth Center with their arms full of supplies. The place is empty except for Ernie. Ernie walks over to them. Ernie tells them he has to step out for about an hour and pick up some supplies. But you can work on your float while I'm gone. Kimberly thanks Ernie. Ernie walks out. The following day, the Youth Center is packed. Ernie is working behind the counter. The TV is broadcasting the parade. Trini, Billy, Jason, Zack, and Tommy are sitting at the counter. Ernie notices that Billy is holding up a pair of binoculars as he watches the TV. Ernie asks him what he is doing and Billy replies it makes him feel as if he is there. Kimberly walks in and she is not happy to see the parade on the TV. Kimberly tells her friends she told them she didn't want to watch the parade. Tommy tells her she has to. Kimberly dejectedly sits down. The TV then shows Kimberly's float as the commentator talks about. Kimberly is stunned and her friends yell surprise! Kimberly asks how and they point to Tommy. Kimberly gives Tommy a hug as she thanks him. Tommy is thrilled. Just then Bulk & Skull walk in. They are covered in bandages as they had an encounter with Spit Flower, which the Power Rangers destroyed. Skull asks if he can have a hug? Jason and Tommy stand up and ask them what are they doing here? Bulk points out that maybe they want to watch the parade. Zack gets up and tells them he has something to show them. Zack performs a magic act and pulls out a bouquet of flowers. Bulk & Skull take one look at the flowers and start screaming and running out of the Youth Center. Ernie can only shake his head as the rest of the teens laugh.
