KELLY

Kelly

Kelly is Kimberly's cousin.  Tommy and Kimberly are at the Youth Center, watching Kelly work on her cheerleading routine for tryouts later.  Initially Kelly is able to keep up with the routine.  Kimberly thinks Kelly is doing great.  Tommy thinks it's pretty good that Kimberly's cousin wants to be a cheerleader like Kimberly.  After awhile, Kelly has a hard time keeping up with the routine and finds herself out of step with the rest of the group.  She gets embarrassed when she shouts out win, after everyone else has already finished the routine.  Tommy and Kimberly exchange sympathetic glances as Kelly walks slowly towards them.  Kimberly asks Kelly, what's wrong?  Kelly replies, isn't it obvious?  I can't do it.  Junior tryouts are later today.  If I don't have it down by now, there's no use.  Kimberly volunteers to show her the routine.  I know you can do this.  Kimberly goes through the routine.  Kelly is impressed and tells Kimberly you are so good.  Everybody at school still talks about what a great cheerleader you were.  Kimberly replies, well now it's your turn.  Kelly is not so sure.  After a few drills, Kelly feels frustrated.  She shakes her head and yells, forget it!  I can't do it.  Kimberly is feeling a little exasperated as well.  Kelly continues, let's face it.  I'm never going to be as good as you Kimberly.  Why should I even bother trying out for the team!  Kelly throws her pom poms to the floor and runs out of the Youth Center.  Kimberly yells at Kelly to wait, but Kelly is already gone.  Kelly winds up in the park, sitting dejectedly on a swing, which is where Kimberly and Tommy find her.  Tommy asks if there is room for two more?  Kelly replies, yeah, I guess.  Kimberly sits down in the swing next to Kelly.  Kimberly immediately tells Kelly that everyone has to do the routines over and over again until they get them.  Kelly replies, I bet you didn't.  I bet you caught on right away.  You're so good.  Kimberly laughs at that.  I had to practice just like everybody else.  I mean there were times when I wanted to give up, but I believed in myself.  I knew I could do it.  I know you can do it too. You shouldn't compare yourself to me or anyone else.  Just be who you are and do what you do best.  Tommy adds, give yourself a chance Kelly.  Suddenly several Putties arrive.  Tommy shouts out a warning.  Kelly screams and gets up.  Kimberly tells her to stay back.  Kimberly and Tommy charge towards the Putties.  Kimberly fights the Putties using the playground equipment.  Tommy fights a batch of Putties by the playground equipment.  Kelly stays behind a bush and anxiously watches them fight.  Eventually the fight leads to the open grass area.  Tommy and Kimberly are fighting together when the Putties vanish.  Kimberly and Tommy do a sweep of the area, as Baboo and Squatt land, unnoticed, a few feet away from Kelly.  Baboo and Squatt quickly grab Kelly.  Kelly screams help and Kimberly quickly turns around.  She immediately charges towards her cousin.  But Baboo, Kelly, and Squatt vanish before Kimberly can reach them.  Kelly, Baboo, and Squatt arrived in an empty cave.  They immediately release Kelly and she walks backwards as Baboo chants, we did it!  We did it!  We got the girl!  Baboo and Squatt high five each other.  Squatt thinks Rita is really going to be happy with us.  After a few moments, Kelly is sitting on a rock , looking around as she rubs her arms for warmth.  Baboo and Squatt are in high spirits.  Baboo is confident that Rita is going to give them a big reward for finally doing something right.  Squatt agrees and he hopes it's food.  Kelly is deep in thought.  This seems so hopeless.  What was it Kimberly said?  Kelly remembers Kimberly's word.  I mean there were times that I wanted to give up.  But I believed in myself.  I knew I could do it.  I know you can do it too.  Kelly glances over at Squatt and Baboo who are talking about food.  Kelly gets an idea.  Hey!  Do you want to learn some cheers?!  Squatt replies, cheers?  Baboo is excited.  Yeah!  Cheers for Rita!  Squatt gets excited and they give each other a high five.  Pom poms at the ready, Kelly stands in front of Baboo and Squatt as she leads them through their cheer.   Baboo and Squatt have a hard time keeping up with her and don't pay too much attention to the chant.  Rita, Rita, she's your leader!  But the Power Rangers always beat her!  Rita!  Rita!  Beat her!  When Kelly begins to spin around Baboo and Squatt become dizzy.  Kelly continues to lead the cheers as Baboo and Squatt make no attempt to follow the routine as they cover their ears.  Squatt declares he doesn't like these cheers.  Make her stop.  Baboo points out it was Squatt's idea to learn the cheers in the first place.  Squatt suggests they go back to the moon and lay down.  Baboo and Squatt vanish.  Kelly tosses her pom poms to the ground and is pleased that her plan worked.  The Power Rangers teleport in.  Kelly is very excited to see them.  Red Ranger tells her, good job Kelly.  We knew you could do it.  Afterwards, Kelly returns to the Youth Center where the cheerleading tryouts are being held.  Kelly stands with Kimberly and her friends.  Kimberly asks Kelly, how are you doing?  Kelly replies, great, thanks to you.  You made me realize I need to stop comparing myself to everyone else and I needed to start believing in myself.  Thanks Kimberly.  Kimberly gives Kelly a hug.  Bulk and Skull enter the Youth Center and head straight for Kelly, Kimberly, Jason, Billy, Tommy, Zack, and Trini.  Bulk comments, well, well, well.  Looks like the wonder tot made it to the cheerleading tryouts after all.  Too bad you won't make the team!  Skull adds, yeah, too bad and laughs.  Kelly responds by asking them why don't they pick on someone with their own IQ?  Kimberly adds, yeah, I think the zoo might be down the street.  Bulk gets angry.  You think you're so smart.  I bet you can't do this.  Bulk goes through his version of a cheer routine, much to the amusement of everyone at the Youth Center and the embarrassment of Skull.  During the routine, Bulk's pants rip, which creates a lot of laughter.  Skull quickly comes to his aid, by covering the ripped pants with his hat.  As discretely as possible, Bulk and Skull leave the Youth Center.  The head cheerleader calls out, Kelly, you're next!  Kelly comments, this is it.  Kimberly tells her, you can do it Kelly.  I know it.  Kelly replies, yeah, I know it too.  Kelly goes out to the floor and starts her routine.  Kimberly is excited and nervous as she watches her cousin.  Kelly does a great job and everyone cheers.  Kelly is told she made the team.  Kimberly, Trini, Billy, Jason, Zack, and Tommy run over to congratulate Kelly as the rest of the team also gathers around Kelly.  Kimberly tells Kelly, I knew you could do it and they high five each other.
