Dr. Tommy Oliver runs from his own creations, Tyrandrones. He reaches a cliff and jumps into the ocean. Dr. Oliver watches the island simultaneously go up in flames and sink under the ocean. A few years later, Dr. Oliver reemerges at Reefside High School as the new science teacher on the first day of school. Principal Randall is suspicious of Dr. Oliver, but is kept busy putting three students into detention. Conner for missing his first class to play soccer, Kira for playing her guitar without asking permission, and Ethan for setting the school spinklers on. Principal Randall gives Dr. Oliver detention duty. Dr. Oliver needs to get to a museum and brings the three along, but they are unable to enter the museum. Dr. Oliver tells the students to take a hike in the woods and if they find anything prehistoric he would take them off detention. Dr. Oliver investigates around the museum and finds himself being chased by a dinosaur. In his jeep, he tricks the dinosaur into crashing into a bridge. Dr. Oliver walks to the dinosaur and sees sparks from the electronics. Meanwhile, Conner, Ethan, and Kira fall through sink holes. They walk along a passageway through caverns and discover an amazing room. Conner spies three gem stones and thinks with those, they would get out of detention. Conner takes the red, Ethan the blue, and Kira the yellow. Kira wants to leave before the owner of the places gets back. Conner and Ethan agreed. They find their way back outside, but things are not quite right. They are soon attacked by Tyrandrones. While fighting the Tyrandrones, they each discover abilities they never had before. After defeating the Tyrandrones, Dr. Oliver shows up and ask them if they are okay. Conner, Ethan, and Kira make no mention of what happened. Dr. Oliver takes them back to school. Conner, Ethan, and Kira agreed not to say anything to anyone about what happened. Kira has had enough and gives her gem stone to Conner. Fellow students Cassidy and Devin are curious as to why the three are talking together, when they have never been spotted before. Kira leaves the guys and gets capture by theTyrandrones. Conner and Ethan decide to tell Dr. Oliver, since the creatures are sorta of like dinosaurs. They drive to his house, but no one answers their knocks. Conner discovers the door is open and they walk in. Conner and Ethan discover a secret staircase that leads them to the room they had discovered the gems in. Dr. Oliver is not happy to see them there. Elsewhere, Kira lays unconscious on contour chair.
