Joel Rawlings - The Green Lightspeed Rescue Power Ranger
Joel Rawlings was flying his plane in the stunt air show. Since he was eight years old, built his own wings, and jump out of his second story home, Joel knew he was meant to fly. He is a very confident young man and has to be. One moment of hesitation could put him and the spectators in danger. Joel also enjoys the cheers of the crowds below. He was busy signing autographs when two men in dark suits approached him. They wanted Joel to leave with them. Joel did not like it one bit. The ride in the limo, was followed by a helicopter, then a submarine to an underground base. Joel was not the only one summoned. He was with Carter, Chad, Kelsey and the young woman who gathered them all, Dana. Inside the base, the others were impressed with what they saw. Not Joel. He soon started pressing buttons on a console and started up an alarm. Dana grabbed him by his shirt and marched him into a conference room. Joel made his way to the front where a man was standing. He was furious with being taken and wanted to let this man know that it was illegal what he was doing. The man introduced himself as Captain Mitchell and said they were all free to go. Joel made to leave, but was stop. Captain Mitchell said they could leave after he has talked to them. Reluctantly Joel sat down. He sat in disbelief as Captain Mitchell talked to them about demons, a warlock, the Aqua Base, and Power Rangers. Joel heard him out and told Captain Mitchell he was nuts. Joel made for the door once again. This time he was stopped by Carter's voice. Carter believed he had seen one of the demons. The monitor was put on and they could all see the demons destroying Mariner Bay. Joel was stunned by what he saw. Carter, Chad, and Kelsey told Captain Mitchell they would help. Then they glanced at Joel. Joel quickly asked Captain Mitchell what could they do to help. Captain Mitchell distributed their morphers - giving one to Dana as well. Joel Rawlings became the Green Lightspeed Rescue Ranger. Joel and the other Rangers were off to their first battle. It was a success and Joel enjoyed the applauance of the Aqua Base crew as much as the crowds at the stunt show. But Joel and the other Ranger's work wasn't over.
There were many more demons for Joel and the other Rangers to battle. These demons were created by Jinxter. Jinxter created the demons for Diabolico who was determined to wipe out the city of Marnier Bay in preparation for Queen Bansheera's arrival. Diabolico had help in the form of Lokar and Vypra, plus thousands of batlings. In the midst of all this, was Impus - Queen Bansheera's son - whom the others took care of.
Joel now lived at the Aqua Base in quarters he shared with Chad and Carter. Joel had little troubles adjusting to life on the Aqua Base - although he had a tendency to be late for meetings. Outgoing, Joel got along with his fellow Rangers and they all soon became friends. He tried to help Chad out when Chad was upset over his sensei's disapproval of Chad becoming a Power Ranger. Joel also helped Carter during his training of the mobile armored vehicle. He also gave words of encouragement to Chad, Kelsey, and Dana when they were trapped in Freezard's frozen dungeon. Joel also met the girl of his dreams when he ran into Miss Fairweather and knock her down. The moment he saw her, he was smitten. Joel pursue Ms. Fairweather relentlessly. Miss Fairweather gave him quite the chase. At one point, Joel thought Ms. Fairweather was building a surprise for him. Instead Miss Fairweather was making powerful Lightspeed cycles for all the Rangers. Joel was hurt when he realized that Miss Fairweather had been thinking of ways to help the Rangers. Not a special gift for him. Joel recovered from his disappointment and was soon asking Miss Fairweather out. Miss Fairweather made up some rule about not fraternization among squad members. Joel was disappointed about the rule, but accepted it with good grace.
Joel could not seem to stay away from Miss Fairweather and found her deep in thought. He told her that she should take some quiet time. Miss Fairweather assumed Joel meant quiet time with him. But Joel was genuinely concerned that Miss Fairweather was working too much. He tried again, but soon gave up, as Miss Fairweather was surrounded by various technicians. Discouraged, Joel walked away. Soon the Rangers were called into battle. Two resurrected monsters were back - Trifire and Magmavore. The battle was tough and the Rangers were told to abandoned their megazord. Captain Mitchell informed them that Miss Fairweather was in trouble. Joel raced ahead of his friends and found Miss Fairweather's abandoned vehicle. Joel was worried about Miss Fairweather. Two of her technicians appeared and told the Rangers that Miss Fairweather was in a collapsed cave. Before anything could be done, they were surrounded by batlings. Joel was sent to find Miss Fairweather as the rest of the Rangers battle the batlings. Joel found the collapsed cave and blasted an opening in the cave. He soon spotted Miss Fairweather among the rubble of the cave. Joel hurried in and was soon at Miss Fairweather's side. For a brief moment, they locked eyes in mutual admiration and a smile touched both of their faces. But Joel needed to get Miss Fairweather back and soon had her back at her vehicle. Miss Fairweather had an idea on how to defeat the monsters and instructed the Rangers to go back for their megazords. Joel was so relieved that Miss Fairweather was okay that he followed the order without any wisecracks. Miss Fairweather soon had the Supertrain Megazord for the Rangers and they were able to defeat the monsters. Later in his quarter, Joel took a longing look at Miss Fairweather. He felt defeated and laid her picture face down on the table. Joel laid down on the coach with his cowboy hat over his face. He heard someone at the door and told them to come in without glancing at who it was. Joel was surprised to hear Miss Fairweather's voice. He cautiously peep out from under the cowboy hat. His ears were not deceiving him, Miss Fairweather was standing there. Joel quickly sat up. He was more astonished to hear Miss Fairweather tell him thank-you for saving her life. And that Joel was right, she does have a tendency to get so wrapped up in work, that she forgets what it is all for. By the time Miss Fairweather was finished, Joel was standing in front of her. And words he never thought he would hear, came from her mouth. Miss Fairweather asking him to dinner. When Miss Fairweather left, Joel felt jubilant. He dressed with great care and walked towards the galley. Joel also was carrying red flowers for Miss Fairweather. Taking a deep breath, he stood in front of the galley doors. Slowly the galley doors opened. Joel's smile was huge as Miss Fairweather came into view. His smile faltered and then disappeared as he took in the sight of his friends there as well. Miss Fairweather told him she hoped he didn't think it was going to be the two of them. Trying to save face, Joel replied no. His friends knew better and before he could walk away, had Joel in the galley with them.
Joel and the rest of the Rangers found themselves fighting another Ranger. This Ranger was called the Titanium Ranger and he gave the Rangers quite a battle. It was soon reviewed that the Titanium Ranger was Captain Mitchell's son - Ryan - presume dead from a car crash. Ryan had been raised in the under world. Ryan made the decision to leave Diabolico, but not necessarily to join the Rangers. Diabolico wasted no time in unleashing three monsters called Demonite, Falker, and Thunderon. These monsters were fierce and the Rangers had their hands full. It was during one crisis with the monsters, that Ryan made the decision to join the Rangers. Joel welcomed the new member with the comment that girls love a guy in uniform. But things were far from over. Diabolico combined the former three monsters into one and the Rangers were in for quite a battle. They managed to defeat the monster, but now were facing Diabolico in combat. Ryan soon joined the rest of the Rangers and with all six Rangers, they were able to destroyed Diabolico. Joel and his friends were celebrating Diabolico's defeat when the Aqua Base alarm went off. Joel and the rest of the Rangers were soon in the city of Mariner Bay. For the first time, Queen Bansheera reviewed herself to Joel and his friends. Queen Bansheera let the Rangers know that her son - Impus - will destroyed the Rangers.
Joel and the rest of the Rangers quickly went into action - blasting away at the cocoon that contained Impus. They thought they had destroyed him, but instead Prince Olympius arose from the ground. Prince Olympius was as strong as Diabolico. There were many battles. Ryan made the decision to leave Aqua Base in order to discover how to capture the demons.
Joel was visiting his friend Simon. They were in Simon's room, checking out the telescope Simon had modified. Joel thought the view was incredible. As he gazed at the stars, Simon tried to scan his morpher. Joel told Simon to stop. Simon ask Joel if he could join Lightspeed. Joel smiled at the young boy and explain that Lightspeed wasn't kid stuff. But if Simon study hard, he could do anything he wanted. Joel could tell that Simon wasn't too thrilled with Joel's answer. But Joel had to get going and left Simon. Joel had another set of flowers behind his back, as he walked towards Miss Fairweather. Joel started talking to Miss Fairweather and told her he had something to show her. Before Joel could bring around the flowers, his friends called out to Miss Fairweather. Carter, Chad, Dana, and Kelsey were impressed with the Omega Megazord that Miss Fairweather had shown them. With his friends in sight, Joel was very reluctant to give Miss Fairweather the flowers. Just then, Simon's voice came over Joel's morpher. Agitated Joel answered his morpher and ask Simon what he was doing. Simon told him he had something important to tell him. While Joel was talking to Simon, Captain Mitchell appeared in front of Joel. Captain Mitchell was not at all impressed with what he saw. Joel, with little options, gave Captain Mitchell the flowers and left Aqua Base. Simon was waiting for Joel in front of his house. Joel was still upset over what had happened and told Simon if he knew how much hot water he had put Joel in. Simon tried to explain to Joel that he discovered an asteroid heading towards Earth. Joel was skeptical at first, but Simon persisted, showing Joel his notebook full of notes. Joel took a look at the notebook and realized that Simon was right. Joel, along with Simon, return to Aqua Base. Joel tried to talk to Miss Fairweather about what Simon had shown him. As usual Miss Fairweather was surrounded by technicians and not giving Joel much noticed. Joel knew this was important and keep trying to get Miss Fairweather's attention. A technician informed Miss Fairweather that his program had stopped. While Miss Fairweather look at the technician's screen, Joel looked around for Simon. He soon spotted Simon inside a the control room, on a computer. Joel raced over to stop Simon with Miss Fairweather close at his heels. They banged on the door, but Simon would not be stopped. Miss Fairweather finally managed to get the door opened. Joel took Simon out of the seat and ask him is he was crazy. Miss Fairweather saw what Simon had discovered and told Simon thank-you. Miss Fairweather also gave Simon a kiss on his check. Joel thought perhaps he was in line for a kiss as well and offered his check. But Miss Fairweather told Joel to get a move on. Joel and the rest of the Rangers attempted to destroyed the asteroid. At first they were stopped by Prince Olympius. Joel and the rest of the Rangers returned to the Aqua Base. Miss Fairweather gave them the go ahead for the Omega project. Joel and his friends left for another try. Simon was concerned for Joel, but Joel told Simon to keep an eye on them and saluted Simon. Simon returned the salute. The Rangers managed to reach the giant asteroid and were placing explosives on it's surface. When Joel and the rest of the Rangers tried to leave, they discovered that the asteroid was alive. The Rangers managed to break free of the asteroid and return safely to the Aqua Base. Inside Joel quickly spotted Simon. Taking Simon aside, he asked if Simon would ask Miss Fairweather out. Simon was a little surprised by the request. Joel explained that he would ask her out, but that he could tell that Miss Fairweather really like Simon. With Joel's cowboy hat on his head, Simon went to ask Miss Fairweather Joel's question. Simon returned to an anxious Joel and told him Miss Fairweather had said yes. Joel was excited until Simon told Joel that he had asked Miss Fairweather for a date. Joel was bemused. Miss Fairweather collected Simon and they left for the planetarium. As usual, Joel found himself surrounded by his friends, laughing at his failure to win over Miss Fairweather.
The Rangers were battling Infinitor. Infinitor had the ability to deflect the Ranger's blows. Joel would not accept this and went after Infinitor. He thought he had him, when Prince Olympius appeared behind Joel. Reacting quickly, Joel leaped out of the way. Prince Olympius's blow hit Infinitor instead. Both Prince Olympius and Infinitor vanished, but promised they would be back. Back at the Aqua Base, Joel listened as Carter explained to Captain Mitchell and Miss Fairweather what had happened. Carter gave Joel credit for getting them out of a difficult situation. Joel was deep in thought and was surprised to hear Miss Fairweather praise him. When he asked Miss Fairweather to repeat herself, she told him that he was very brave. Slowly their heads inched closer. Then Captain Mitchell asked Miss Fairweather about Clark and the moment was broken. Joel was a little perturbed to hear Miss Fairweather sing the praises of Clark. Later in his quarter, he tied some yellow flowers together. Chad couldn't resist teasing Joel about Miss Fairweather. Holding her picture in front of his face, Chad mimic Miss Fairweather's voice and said "for me, Clark would do anything". This did not fazed Joel a bit. Walking through the corridors, Joel rehearse what he was going to say to Miss Fairweather. As he was getting his lines down, a man appeared and asked if Joel could direct him to Miss Fairweather's lab. Joel gave him directions and watched the man disappear down the corridor. Then it hit him, that could be Clark. Joel raced along and peeked into the window above the door. There he witness Miss Fairweather and Clark embrace. Clark gave Miss Fairweather flowers and managed to use the same line Joel had been rehearsing. The doors opened, and Miss Fairweather spotted Joel standing there. Miss Fairweather excitedly called Joel over and introduced him to Clark. Joel simply told them that they had meet. The whole situation was not sitting well with Joel. As Miss Fairweather and Clark walked away, Joel hear Miss Fairweather say how much she admired a brilliant mind. Feeling discouraged, Joel dumped his flowers in a waste basket and walked away.
Joel did not stay discouraged for long. He decided if Miss Fairweather liked brilliant minds, then that was what he would become. Joel appeared in the lab with thick glasses and a lab coat. Miss Fairweather was surprised by Joel's appearance. Clark seemed very amused as Joel tried to pass himself off as a scientist. Clark set Joel up in the control room with the project of reconnecting a mass of wires. Joel was bewildered but couldn't let anyone see that he had no idea of what he was doing. Miss Fairweather kept casting anxious glances towards Joel. Clark encouraged Joel to go ahead and test the wires. The result was the Aqua Base lost a lot of their power. The control room was filled with smoke. Joel walked out in disarray and realized he could not pull the scientist bit off. Joel had overheard Miss Fairweather and Clark make plans for lunch. Joel enlisted Chad and they set off to spy on Miss Fairweather and Clark. Joel felt physically ill as he watched the two of them together. Then Joel spotted a sprinkler head and a devious idea came to his mind. With Chad's help, he set off the sprinklers to ruin Miss Fairweather and Clark's lunch. Inside the car, Miss Fairweather happened to notice both Chad and Joel in the side mirror. Getting out, Miss Fairweather walked over to the two culprits. Joel was surprised to see Miss Fairweather standing there and asking him what he was thinking. He tried to tell her that he thought the grass looked dry. Suddenly there was an explosion. Infinitor was back and had set the car on fire. Joel held Miss Fairweather back as Chad went to deal with Infinitor. Miss Fairweather was frantic about Clark being in the car. In a moment, Joel was at the car and dragging the stunned Clark out. He got him to a safe spot. Miss Fairweather was beside Clark in seconds, overwrought that something had happened to Clark. Joel was hit hard with the realization that Miss Fairweather cared deeply for Clark. He retrieve his cowboy hat and put it on an angle that shielded his eyes. Miss Fairweather looked up at Joel and he told her that Clark would be alright. During the battle with Infinitor, Miss Fairweather gave Joel and Chad a new code to put into their morphers. This code activated their mega armor. Infinitor was soon defeated.
Joel was back at the Aqua Base walking with his friends. His heart felt heavy and he could not bring a smile to his face. It didn't help to hear Dana and Kelsey drool over Clark. He entered the dining room and watched Clark and Miss Fairweather for a moment. Joel cared enough for Miss Fairweather to want her happiness over his own. He stopped by the table and thanked Clark for the new armor. Clark thank him as well for saving him. Clark had to leave. Joel told Miss Fairweather that Clark really made her happy. Miss Fairweather responded with she couldn't live without him. With much courage, Joel told Miss Fairweather that Clark was a great boyfriend and that she deserved the best. Miss Fairweather whirled around. She told Joel that Clark was her brother not boyfriend. Miss Fairweather wanted to know if Joel thought differently. Joel quickly tried to cover up his mistake. Miss Fairweather came up to Joel and thank him as well. And she gave him a kiss. Joel was unable to move for a moment and then his knees became weak and he felt himself slide down. His friends caught Joel before he hit the ground. Joel gave a jubilant cheer over his peek on the check.
Prince Olympius attempted to get rid of Vypra and Loki. Instead Vypra and Loki resurrected Diabolico. Diabolico and Olympius were constantly trying to outdo the other in their attempts to destroy the Power Rangers.
Joel, Chad, Dana, and Kelsey were riding back to the Aqua Base when a young man stumbled onto the road. They stop to offer assistance. The young man was Leo - the Red Galaxy Ranger. Leo had been trying to find the Lightspeed Rescue Rangers. Joel and his friends were soon surrounded by ghouls. Joel and his friends got rid of them. It was decided that they needed to return to the Aqua Base. At the Aqua Base, Joel, Carter, Chad, Kelsey, Leo, Maya, and Kai were seated at a table. Leo explained how Trakeena was injured and on Earth to steal life forces from the citizens. Trakeena also had a monster TriSkull helping her. The Rangers first attack against TriSkull failed. Joel and his friends came up with a new plan. The Rangers went back to the building where Heather's mom (a young girl Carter befriended) had been taken. Heather pulled the fire alarm and Joel and the rest of the Rangers helped evacuate the building. Joel, Chad, Kelsey, Dana, Maya, and Kai waited on the ground while Leo and Carter headed towards the 13th floor. Chad motion Joel and the others to come over. Leo and Carter were in trouble. They activated the flotation mattress on the Rescue Rover. Instead of two Rangers tumbling down, there were four. Kendrix and Damon had joined in the battle. TriSkull had been destroyed. Prince Olympius decided two teams of Rangers were too many and left. But not without first shooting a poison dagger towards Trakeena. The dragger entered one of the life force tubes. This cause Trakeena to mutate into an enormous monster. The battle was tough, but with both teams working together they were able to defeat Trakeena. Afterwards, they walked together to return Heather to her mom. As the Rangers watched the reunion, Joel offered his picture and autograph to Maya and Kendrix - which they refused. The Galaxy Rangers were unable to stay in Mariner Bay. The Galaxy Rangers left on their jet jammers with the Lightspeed Rescue Rangers waving from below.
The power had just gone out at the Aqua Base. Joel and his friends hurried to Miss Fairweather's lab to see what the problem was. Miss Fairweather was checking a viewing monitor. Joel and his friends were surprised to see Captain Mitchell was the culprit. Dana remembered their earlier visit to a hypnotist and told the others Captain Mitchell was under a spell. The Rangers had to leave for a monster attack. Prince Olympius had gained incredible strength from past monster when he was in the shadow world. Prince Olympius was also gaining strength from the drainage of power from the Aqua Base. Joel and the rest of the Rangers were having a tough time defeating Prince Olympius. Back at the Aqua Base, Miss Fairweather and two technicians had broken through the door. Miss Fairweather destroyed the star that was draining all the power. Prince Olympius felt the effect immediately and became more weak. With Prince Olympius weaken, the Rangers were able to destroyed him. Or so Joel and the rest of his friends assumed. Joel and the rest of the Rangers were ready for a day off. Joel was packing gear in the Rescue Rover - ready for a day at the beach. Captain Mitchell walked in and told them he was planning a 5-mile hike with full gear. The Rangers began to groan. Joel did not want to miss a day at the beach. As Captain Mitchell lectured on, Joel spotted a stopwatch nearby. He grabbed it and went behind Captain Mitchell. Dangling the stopwatch in front of Captain Mitchell's face, Joel attempted to hypnotize him. At first, it looked like Joel had succeeded when Captain Mitchell agreed to a day off for the Rangers. Captain Mitchell then continued - except for Joel, who now had to go on a 10-mile hike.
Carter discovered that Prince Olympius was still around. Vypra, Loki, Diabolico, and eventually Olympius destroyed. Queen Bansheera was in full form and had captured Ryan. Carter left to rescue Ryan. The Batlings invaded the Aqua Base. Batlings had taken over the Life Force Megazord. Joel, Dana, Chad, Kelsey, Miss Fairweather helped evacuate the Aqua Base. They were ready to leave when they realized that Captain Mitchell was still in rescue ops. Joel and the rest return to the rescue ops to retrieve Captain Mitchell. In the meantime, the Life Force Megazord destroyed their only means of leaving.
Joel sat dejected and watch the water slowly seep in. He was at a lost at what to do. Miss Fairweather approached him and told him that they were going to be okay. Joel didn't see how since they were trapped in there. Miss Fairweather replied that she hoped no because when this was over she hoped that they could go on a date - assuming he still wanted to. Joel was not in the mood to be toyed with and told Miss Fairweather not to joke about a date. Miss Fairweather smiled and replied that she wasn't joking. Joel could see that Miss Fairweather was serious. The viewing monitor was still working in the room they were trapped in. Joel and the others could see their megazord rebuilding Queen Bansheera's palace. This spurred them into action. Joel discovered an opening in the floor. Miss Fairweather checked and it was a pathway to the submarine bay. Chad went first and reported back that they could make it to the submarine bay. Joel and the others all went and made it to the submarine bay. They were inside the submarine when the batlings stopped the submarine from being lowered. Joel would not accept this new problem - he had a date to keep. He discovered where to fire torpedoes and fired them. The torpedoes broke through the Aqua Base and water gushed in. The submarine was free to go. Joel and the others made it to the surface of Mariner Bay. There they joined Carter and Ryan. The Rangers entered the Queen's Palace and were fighting batlings and Queen Bansheera. Queen Bansheera eventually fell into the tomb and drag Carter with her. Diabolico appeared and release Carter - Diabolico took Queen Bansheera down to the bottom of the tomb. Joel and the rest of the Rangers felt the ground shaking and quickly left. They watched as the Palace turned to dust. Joel and his friends were returning their morphers to Captain Mitchell . A smile came across Joel's face as a convertible pulled up with Miss Fairweather in it. Miss Fairweather was ready for their date and so was Joel. He left his friends as he hurried to the waiting Miss Fairweather. Joel opened the door for Angela and once she was seated, went around to entered on the other side of the car. A fire truck raced by towards a huge mass of smoke towards the city. Joel and Angela slowly turned their head to look at the others. Carter, Chad, Dana, Ryan, and Kelsey began racing behind the fire truck. Joel knew he could not sit in the car. He told Angela to wait while he put his cowboy hat on her head and joined the others. Despite his many protests, Joel is a true Ranger and he will do all that he can to help Mariner Bay.
Joel was excitedly getting ready for his honeymoon with Angela. They were ready to leave for Hawaii when Joel's cell phone rang. He hesitated - glancing at Angela and seeing her look of uncertainly. Joel answered the cell phone and it was Carter. Carter informed Joel that Vypra had returned and had team up with Ransik. Vypra and Ransik were after the solar amulet to summon up a super demon, Quargenon. Joel, Chad, Dana, and Kelsey arrived in Silver Hills just as Quargenon was preparing to attack Carter, Wes, Lucas, Trip, Jen, and Katie - the Time Force Rangers. Joel and his friends went into action. Ryan and Eric - the Quantum Ranger - soon joined the battle. With twelve Rangers, Quargenon was quickly destroyed. Afterwards, Joel, Chad, Carter, Dana, Kelsey, and Ryan visited the Clock Tower where the Time Force Rangers live. Joel was puzzled that they lived in such an old place when the Time Force Rangers came from the future. The two Rangers teams exchange uniforms and jackets. The Time Force Rangers gave the Joel and his friends an escort back to Mariner Bay.
