MAGNA DEFENDER
Magna Defender - Voiced by Kerrigan Mehan
Leo had entered the cave where he had last seen his brother. Leo had chased off a monster that had picking away at a rock. Furio entered the cave and was determined to destroy Leo. Furio held Leo tightly as he attempted to blow both of them up. Furio was destroyed, but not Leo. Leo was carried out of the cave, by Magna Defender. Magna Defender walked out of the cave, with Leo swung over his shoulder. Magna Defender put Leo on the ground and glanced at the rest of the Power Rangers, but said nothing. The following day, Magna Defender made another appearance. Ruptor had attacked Kendrix. Kendrix had been driving and had with her a rock that everyone believe contained the Lights of Orion. Ruptor was battling Kendrix, when Magna Defender stepped in and blasted him away. Kendrix had held onto the rock, and now the Magna Defender wanted the rock. He motioned to Kendrix to hand it over to him, but Kendrix shook her head no. The rest of the Rangers arrived and believe that the Magna Defender had been attacking Kendrix. The Rangers yelled at Magna Defender to leave her alone, as they formed a protective barrier around her. Ruptor launched another attack and managed to get the stone when it flew away. Leo asked Magna Defender who he was, but Magna Defender did not reply. Kendrix asked him what he wanted with the Lights of Orion, and Magna Defender replied that he had his reasons. Later, the Rangers were battling Samuron when Magna Defender made another appearance. Magna Defender began to battle Samuron, stating that Samuron had something that belonged to him. Samuron refused to give Magna Defender the stone, and instead, release several Stingwingers against Magna Defender. Magna Defender made quick work of them. The Rangers were watching Magna Defender and Leo noted that Magna Defender fought just like his brother Mike. Magna Defender then went after Samuron and destroyed him. Magna Defender had slice opened the stone, but it was hollow. Treacheron and Trakeena watched the battle from the sidelines. Treacheron knew who the Magna Defender was. Treacheron leaped out of his hiding spot and told the Magna Defender that he was impressed. Treacheron asked Magna Defender if he remembered that last time they had seen each other. Magna Defender remembered it vividly. 3,000 years ago, he had climbed to the top of a cliff and released the Lights of Orion from a box. Magna Defender was in a very weaken state when Treacheron began to attack him. Treacheron had been ordered to destroy Magna Defender. Magna Defender fell into a hole and he stayed trapped there, until he had figured out how to get out. Magna Defender returned to the present and he fought against Treacheron. The Rangers tried to help Magna Defender, but Magna Defender told them it was his battle. The Rangers had to leave to fight Starcog, but once they destroyed him they returned. Magna Defender and Treacheron were still battling and Rangers tried to help. Treacheron saw the Rangers and left, promising Magna Defender that he would continue the battle against him. Magna Defender began to walk away, but the Rangers stopped him. The Rangers wanted to work together with Magna Defender, but Magna Defender told them he worked alone. Kendrix asked him weren't they working on the same side. Magna Defender replied that the Rangers knew nothing about him and leaped onto to high stone.
Another, Magna Defender stood alone and looked out over Terra Venture. He remembered what Scorpius had done to his planet and his son, Zika. Memories began to flow of the destruction that Scorpius had done. A particular painful memory soon follow. Magna Defender had found several monsters gloating over some treasure. Magna Defender told the monsters to put the treasure down, as they wouldn't need it where they were going. The monsters sneered that Magna Defender had survived. Magna Defender called for his Torrozord, which arrived promptly. Another monster called out to Magna Defender and he saw that Fishface had captured Zika. Scorpius told Magna Defender to call off Torrozord and to drop his weapon and they would release his son. Magna Defender told Torrozord to leave and drop his weapon. Scorpius and several of the monsters took several shots at Magna Defender. Magna Defender fell to the ground and watched as Zika was released and thrown to the ground. Zika wanted to rescue his father and began charging towards Scorpius. Magna Defender called out to Zika to stop, but it was too late. Scorpius shot several beams at Zika and killed him. Magna Defender crawled towards his lifeless son and called out his name. Magna Defender returned to the present and vow vengeance against those who had killed his son. The following day, Fishface was in Terra Venture blasting away sunflower statutes, hoping to find the Lights of Orion. The Power Rangers were already battling Fishface, when Magna Defender appeared. Magna Defender began blasting away at Fishface, unconcern for the group of civilians huddled in a corner. The Rangers tried to stop Magna Defender and one of his shots caused rumble to fall on the civilians. Kendrix angrily asked Magna Defender if he cared about innocent people. Magna Defender declared that they were not important as his mission. The Rangers wanted to help Magna Defender, but he walked away from them, saying under his breath, that they would never understand his pain. As he walked along, he noticed a red ball of fire and watched it crash into the forest. Magna Defender recognized it as his ultimate weapon and went into the forest to search for it. Fishface continued his search for the Lights of Orion, blasting away at several more sunflower statues. The Rangers were there and tried to stop him. Magna Defender appeared again and another battle broke out. Fishface saw a young girl and captured her. Taunting Magna Defender, Fishface asked him if it brought back any memories for him. Fishface then demanded that they drop their weapons. The Rangers dropped their weapons, but Magna Defender did not. He kept walking towards Fishface, telling Fishface that he had shown no mercy for his son, and he would show no for him. The Rangers continued to shout to Magna Defender to drop his weapon and stop. Leo grabbed a hold of Magna Defender and while Fishface was distracted, Damon rescued the girl. Fishface blasted the last sunflower statue and was dismayed to discovered there were no Lights of Orion. Magna Defender told Fishface that the Lights of Orion would never be own by evil. Magna Defender battle Fishface and at one point, stumble to the ground, as though in pain. Fishface took a drink of a liquid that made him grow larger. The Rangers called for their zord and battle Fishface. Fishface soon had their zord dismantled. Magna Defender called for his Torrozord which emerge. The Rangers were impressed and more so when Magna Defender shouted out transform and he transform into red plated armor. Torrozord tossed Fishface over. Magna Defender then leapt onto Torrozord's back and together they attacked Fishface. Later, Magna Defender called out to Torrozord "Defender Torrozord" and Torrozord turned into robot mode. Magna Defender, still in transform mode, leaped on the top of Defender Torrozord to form the head. Magna Defender destroyed Fishface and had the small satisfaction of destroying one of his enemies. Later, Magna Defender returned to normal and walked through the woods. The Rangers came up from behind him and called out to him to stop. Magna Defender stopped, but kept his back towards them. Leo told him that he needed to control his anger. Magna Defender then told them the story of Zika's death and how he would not stop until he had destroyed Scorpius. Leo told him that he knew how he felt, but that if he didn't control his anger, he was just as back as Scorpius. Magna Defender merely walked on.
Chillyfish attacked Terra Venture. Chillyfish used lasers to freeze the people of Terra Venture. Freezing, the people eventually fall asleep. Only Leo had been unaffected by Chillyfish attacks, because Mike's dog tags had reflected the lasers away. Leo was searching for an answer to help the people of Terra Venture, when he spotted movement nearby. Leo follow and discovered the Magna Defender. Magna Defender held up a small box towards the sky. The Lights of Orion drifted back into the box, and Magna Defender closed the box. Leo wanted the Lights of Orion to help the colony, but Magna Defender refused to let him have the Lights of Orion. Magna Defender told Leo to not believe that Magna Defender would not hurt him. Magna Defender and Leo battled over the Lights of Orion. At one point, the box was hit out of Magna Defender's hand. As they battled, Magna Defender told Leo that he fought with his heart and that made him weak. Magna Defender let nothing stand between him and his mission. Leo tried several times to reach the box. Magna Defender shot Leo in the back as he tried to get to the box. At the end, one of Magna Defender's blasts accidentally hit the box and released the Lights of Orion. Magna Defender was not happy. Magna Defender went after the Lights of Orion. Later, Leo and Chillyfish were battling. Chillyfish suddenly fell to the ground. Magna Defender appeared. He told Leo that he had ruined his plans, that the Lights had been a decoy. Leo was sorry, he hadn't know. Chillyfish drank out of a cylinder and soon became larger. Magna Defender transform and began to battle Chillyfish. Eventually Magna Defender called for Defender Torrozord. As they battle, Magna Defender told Chillyfish to tell him what he knew about the Lights of Orion, and he might spare him. But Chillyfish refused to give any information. Magna Defender destroyed Chillyfish and with Chillyfish's destruction, the colony woke up and was back to normal. Later, Leo approached Magna Defender and thanked him for his help. Magna Defender told Leo that he was not helping him, he was just trying to complete his mission. Leo told him that he had saved the entire colony. Magna Defender told Leo that he wanted so bad to believe that he had some good in him, but he did not. Magna Defender told Leo that all goodness left his heart when Scorpius killed Zika. Magna Defender turned and walked away. Leo shouted after him that no one could live in total darkness, but Magna Defender never acknowledge him.
Scorpius and Treacheron set forth another monster to find the Lights of Orion, Destruxo. The Power Rangers and Magna Defender fought Destruxo to stop him from obtaining the Lights of Orion. Magna Defender began to experience more problems. The angrier he got, the more he seemed to fall apart. Magna Defender started to stumble more while battling and he was bewildered as to what was happening to him. Smoke also began to come from chest and at times he could hear his heartbeat very loudly. Despite these setback, Magna Defender continued with his mission of revenge, including numerous battles against the Power Rangers and Destruxo. The Lights of Orion had finally been freed, but they left Terra Venture, despite Magna Defender's pleads to come to him. Later, the Lights of Orion returned to Terra Venture and the race was on between Magna Defender, the Power Rangers, and Destruxo to get the Lights of Orion. Initially, Destruxo absorb the Lights of Orion and became more powerful. Magna Defender battled Destruxo and eventually the Lights of Orion were released from Destruxo. Magna Defender race after the Lights of Orion, needing their power for his revenge. The Power Ranger blocked his path, telling him he had too much anger to obtain the Lights of Orion. Magna Defender proceeded to battle the Rangers. The Rangers were ready to destroy the Lights of Orion to stop Magna Defender from obtaining their power. Suddenly the Lights of Orion began to glow more brightly and moved over the Power Rangers. The Lights of Orion choose the Power Rangers. Magna Defender was in despair. He moved dejectedly away, claiming that he had failed and the Lights of Orion were gone from him forever.
Scorpius used his Scorpion Stinger to attached itself to Terra Venture. The Scorpion Stinger was attached to the mountain dome of Terra Venture, and Scorpius was draining Terra Venture of it's fuel. The Rangers tried to stop Scorpius. Magna Defender saw that Scorpius was within reach. Magna Defender, in his Defender Torrozord tried to break apart the mountain dome, thus destroying Scorpius and the innocent people of Terra Venture. The Rangers used their zord to try and stop Magna Defender. Eventually, Torrozord would toss Magna Defender out and walk away from him.. Magna Defender felt he had been betrayed by his own zord. On the ground, with his back turn, Magna Defender was unaware of Freaky Tiki's approach until Freaky Tiki attacked from himself. Magna Defender was greatly hurt and Leo came to his aid. Leo took him to a safer area and they rested for a moment. Then they were surrounded by Stingwingers and Leo fought them all off. Magna Defender could only watch weakly. After Leo had destroyed all the Stingwingers, Magna Defender commented that Leo was weak. After all that Magna Defender had done to him, how could Leo protect him. Magna Defender recognized the goodness in Leo as it was the same in Mike. Leo asked him how he knew Mike. Magna Defender told him that Mike weigh heavy on his heart, especially when he was seeking his revenge. Magna Defender told Leo that 3,000 years ago he was helpless in the bottom of a crevice, that Treacheron had caused him to fall in. Magna Defender could not leave until 3,000 years later when the crevice opened again and Mike fell in. Magna Defender threw a spear that stop Mike's fall and pin him to the wall. Then Magna Defender switched Mike's spirit and that enable Magna Defender to leave the crevice and regain his strength. Magna Defender told Leo that Mike was alive and well inside him. Magna Defender told Leo that he could free his brother, by destroying him. Magna Defender picked up his sword and told him he would make it easy for him, that Leo could call it self defense. But Leo could not destroy Magna Defender, because he could only destroy evil, and the Magna Defender was not evil. Magna Defender collapse and recall when he had honor like Leo. Magna Defender's memories of training Zika to be a little warrior came back to him as well. Magna Defender remained on the ground as sorrow overtook him. The Rangers had destroyed Freaky Tiki but could were trying desperately to stop the mountain dome from exploding. Magna Defender watch the Rangers as they demorph and continued to try and remembered a time when he would sacrifice himself for good, but that was before revenge overtook his heart. Flames and destruction surrounded Magna Defender when suddenly he saw Zika walking towards him, clutching some flowers. The flames and destruction faded and the ground was tranquil again as Zika approached Magna Defender. Magna Defender was stunned to see his son. Zika told his father that he could stop this and that they would be together forever. Zika gave Magna Defender the flowers and walked away, telling him that he still believed in him. When Zika left, the flames and destruction returned. Magna Defender called out to Zika to stop, but Zika was already gone. Magna Defender knew what he had to do. He got to his feet and began walking towards the pit where the evil energy was building up. Magna Defender threw his sword towards the Rangers and it formed a protective shield around the Rangers. Magna Defender told Leo not to worry about his brother. Magna Defender stumbled up the hill. Torrozord arrived to help him, but Magna Defender sent him away, telling him the had to do this on his own. As he stumbled along, the flames and destruction disappeared again as Zika appeared at his side. Magna Defender was strong again as he walked hand in hand with Zika. He thanked Zika for showing him that he still had good in his heart. At the edge of the pit, Magna Defender was smoking badly, and he dropped himself into the pit and destroyed the evil energy and saved Terra Venture.
Magna Defender's last gesture before sacrificing himself, was to release Mike's spirit from within. Mike was reunited with his brother, Leo and their friends. The Rangers were battling in zord against giant Skeleron. Mike watched from below, frustrated at being unable to help the Rangers. Magna Defender's and Zika's ghosts appeared before Mike. Magna Defender told Mike that he had to carry on the work that they had started. Morphers appeared on Mike's wrists along with Magna Defender's sword. Magna Defender told Mike that his weapon was now Mike's. Magna Defender told Mike that he would now be the Magna Defender before vanishing with Zika.
Mike has just rescue hundreds of Captain Mutiny's slaves and gotten them to the Astro Megaship safely. Mike had gone back with Haley to search for her grandfather. They found him and on their return encountered Barbarax. Mike transform into the Magna Defender and battle Barbarax. Mike had defeated Barbarax and now had battle Caption Mutiny. Mike saw the Astro Megaship leaving and Caption Mutiny took advantage and defeated Mike. Mike was laying on the ground defeated when Magna Defender appeared. The Magna Defender told Mike to gather his strength for his biggest challenge yet. Mike got up and use his Torrozord to keep the portal open and allow Terra Venture to leave the lost galaxy and return to their own universe. Later, Mike laid in a hospital and talked to Haley and Leo. Magna Defender's spirit appeared once more and told Mike that thanked Mike, telling him he had served the legacy of the Magna Defender with honor.
