KAI
Kai Chen - The Blue Galaxy Power Ranger
Kai Chen was preparing himself for a great adventure. He had been chosen as part of the personnel that would be guiding Terra Venture to a new world. Kai was fortunate that his friends Mike and Kendrix were also along with the adventure. They were preparing for one last training exercise on the moon before Terra Venture left. As Kendrix and Kai walked to the training exercises, Kendrix got knock down by a young man. Kai couldn't help but see the sparks fly between Kendrix and the young man. He immediately became protective of Kendrix and step in between them. It turned out the young man was a stowaway. When two guards question Kendrix and Kai about him, Kendrix covered for the young man. It went against Kai's nature not to report the young man, but he reluctantly went along with Kendrix's cover story.
Soon they were on the moon for the training. Explosives were going off every where. Kai left Kendrix to check out another area. He was stunned to hear an explosive right where he had left Kendrix. Frantically, he raced to where he had left her. In an amazement, Kai saw that Kendrix was okay. Anger overcame him as he also saw that the young man was with Kendrix as well. Kai pushed Leo away. Kendrix tried to stop Kai from going further with the fight. Before it could escalate, Mike came towards them. Kai was in for a surprise when he learned that the young man was Leo, Mike's younger brother. As Kai digested this information, more surprises were coming towards them all. A vortex opened up and out tumbled a young woman followed by strange looking creatures. All of them helped the young girl against the stingwingers. When they had defeated the stingwingers, the young woman introduced herself as Maya and explained that her planet was in danger. Kai was opposed to helping out Maya. They had no idea what was beyond the vortex and there were only a few hours left before Terra Venture left - with or without them. Mike made the decision that he and Kendrix would follow Maya through the vortex. Kai and Leo were to head back to the shuttle. Not liking the idea much, Kai follow Mike's commands. Within a flash, Leo turned around and headed into the vortex as well.
Jubilation was around in the shuttle. Kai could barely lift his head. He felt he had made a big mistake. He had left several team members behind. Kai felt very dejected. As everyone around him left the shuttle, Kai noticed a piece of paper on the floor. It was an advertisement for the Astro Megaship museum. Within seconds an idea formed into Kai's head. Kai found the museum and was soon directing visitors off the craft. Bluffing his way through, he flashed an ID to Alpha and told him the Astro Megaship had been recommission by GSA. As soon as everyone was gone, Kai tried to figure out the controls to fly the ship. He was lucky. There was still one person left on the ship - the ship's mechanic Damon. Again, Kai tried to bluff his way with Damon, but this time it wasn't working. Kai went with the truth, and told Damon everything that had happened. Damon did not want to get involved. In a last ditch effort, Kai again tried to get the ship going, but he had no idea what he was doing. Damon saw his determination and decided to help Kai get the ship up and flying. It was shaky at first, but they managed to get the ship up in space and through the vortex.
Kai and Damon were just in time to help Mike, Kendrix, Leo, and Maya battled Furio and the stingwingers. During the battle, Mike pulled a saber up from a stone. Kai watched and soon found himself at the stone. He reach for a saber and pulled it smoothly from the stone. Furio was furious. He had wanted the quasar sabers for himself. Furio began to turn the planet and everything within to stone. Quickly Kai and the others raced for the ship, before they were turned to stone as well. The next thing they knew, Furio was in front of them. This time he made the ground shake and come apart. Struggling against stingwingers, Kai watched his friend Mike fall into a crevice. The remaining five soon found themselves standing together. The quasar sabers gleamed with their own powers, and holding his saber up, Kai became the Blue Galaxy Power Ranger. A short battle followed, but the Rangers made it back to the Astro Megaship. Kai and Kendrix made in back to listen to Commander Stanton's words as Terra Venture left for the new world. A lot was going to happen to Kai during this journey.
Kai got along well with the other Rangers. Although initially he had some problems with Leo. Kai is a very intelligent man and he worked very hard to get where he was at. It irritated him that Leo was able to breeze through all the testing for GSA and had no regard for the rules and regulations. Kai was always looking for something that Leo was doing wrong and would come down hard on him if he did. Kai began to realize that perhaps he was too hard on Leo and began to accept him as he is. This was the beginning of a very strong friendship between the two.
Kai enjoys working out with both Kendrix and Leo. Tossing around the football with the guys is something else that is relaxing for Kai. He also enjoys cooking and is very creative in this area. Kai can also make some very impressive bird calls.
Normally Kai is pretty level headed guy, straight arrow kind of guy. That is until he spots a very pretty girl. That's what happen to Kai when Commander Stanton sent Kai to video tape his daughter, Jodi, roller-skating. While Kai was taping Jodi, a pretty girl came onto the screen. From that moment on, Kai couldn't take his eyes off of her. He heard Jodi called the girl Hannah. As Jodi came up to Kai and started talking, Kai went into a daydream that had Hannah and him together and happy. Kai tried to catch up to Hannah on the roller rink. But it was his first time on skates and he wasn't doing too well. Kai ended up on his back on the floor. Lucky for him, Hannah stop to help him up. She gave him a few words of encouragement and she was off, before Kai could stop her. Then, his morpher went off. He crashed into a quiet place and found out that he was needed to help the other Rangers. Hannah had seen him crash and went once again, to offer her help. Kai asked Hannah if she could watch Jodi and that he would be right back.
Meeting Hannah had made Kai feel more powerful than ever, and he ripped right into the monster the Rangers were battling. The battle was over quickly and Kai was off before any of the Rangers could stop him. He was back at the roller rink, scanning for Hannah. Kai found her and offered his thanks for watching Jodi. Kai was so head over heels for this girl, that he couldn't focus on anything else. Kai is a very talented chef, but now he was serving black pancakes with ketchup. The other Rangers watched the video tape of Jodi. When Hannah came on the screen and stayed on for the rest of the tape, they need what was going on with Kai.
Kai remained in his dreamy state. Ordering a hot dog and managing to put mustard on his hand. When he went to rinse his hand off, he heard a pretty laugh. And there was Hannah and she was waving him over. Kai quickly made his way over to Hannah and was pleased that she knew his name and had asked about him. They sat together and talked for awhile. Soon the ground was shaking. Kai grabbed Hannah's hand and tried to get her somewhere safe. In the midst of all the chaos, Hannah spotted a familiar car with a man inside. She wanted to help him, but Kai stopped her. When Hannah told him that it was Johnny and that he had her wedding dress, Kai was stunned. A little shook up by the news, Kai still race to the car and got Johnny and the dress safely out. Hannah gave Johnny a big hug, as Kai held the box with the dress inside. He suddenly felt very awkward. Kai gave Hannah the box and left to help the other Rangers.
For a couple of days after, Kai was depressed. He felt like doing nothing. In his quarters, he simply lay in his bed, refusing to cook or do anything with his friends. Then the day came when there was a knock on the door. It was Jody with a gift for Kai from Hannah. That brought Kai back to life. He sprang from his bed to retrieve the gift from Kendrix. Kai read the note from Hannah. The wedding had been for her sister, Hannah had been a bridesmaid. For the first time, in a couple of day, a grin broke out over Kai's face.
Many battles were in store for Kai and the other Rangers. First they dealt with Furio, then Treacheron, the introduction of Trakeena, and behind all of this, Scorpius. There was also the Magna Defender on a personnel vendetta against Treacheron. He would later sacrifice himself for the safety of Terra Venture. Before Magna Defender's demise, he release Mike's spirit and Mike would later don the Magna Defender suit.
Under Commander Stanton's guidance, Kai began to trust his instincts. At first, any question, Kai would answer by following the procedures. But Commander Stanton wanted Kai to use the procedures only as a guide and to trust his own judgment. Kai was beginning to understand what Commander Stanton wanted. Later there was an attack on Commander Stanton. Unknown to anyone, he was under the command of one of Trakeena's monsters. There was a red star close by and Commander Stanton gave orders that to shut down two of the engines. Kai was very hesitant about following these directions. When he returned to his quarters, he was lost in thought. Kai told Damon and Leo how he felt about Commander Stanton's orders, but they had the utmost faith in Commander Stanton and simply dismiss Kai's concerns.
Kai became even more concerned when Commander Stanton gave out a course that would take Terra Venture even closer to the red star. Kai did something he had never done before. He refused to follow an order. Commander Stanton had Kai tossed out. Kai was a little stun as he stood outside the building. He knew Terra Venture was in grave danger. By chance, Kai spotted Commander Stanton outside. He decided to follow him and saw him talking to the monster that had attacked earlier. Kai confronted both of them. There was a battle, with the other Rangers joining in. Commander Stanton left and Kai went after him. Commander Stanton gave Kai a tough fight, but Kai managed to lock Commander Stanton in a room. Then Kai was off to help the other Rangers.
After the defeat of the monster, Kai and Mike went back to the room where Commander Stanton was locked in. Kai opened the door and was relived to see Commander Stanton back to his self. Commander Stanton was puzzled about what was going on, but there was no time for explanations. They had to get Terra Venture back on a safe course. They all raced back to the control room. There, Commander Stanton gave the orders that helped Terra Venture get back on track, with Kai's help. Kai would later be recognized for his courageous efforts by Commander Stanton. He decided to take the day off and put Kai in charge. When Kai entered the control room, he was given a heartily applause by all the crew members.
With the destruction of Scorpius, Trakeena was intent on extracting revenge on the Power Rangers. One of her plans involved the bringing back the Psycho Rangers. Kai and Kendrix were captured by the Psycho Rangers as well as Maya and Damon. In the warehouse the four of them were held. Kai was relieved to see Leo. Then, much to his amazement, another Red Ranger, Andros, appeared. Kai watched them leave followed closely by Trakeena. Mike appeared and free Kai and the others. They soon joined the Red Rangers. Kai and the others were soon joined by the four space Rangers - Ashley, Cassie, Carlos, and TJ. Both teams made a powerful force. Together they were able to defeat the Psycho Rangers. Or so they thought.
Kai was enjoying a get together with the legendary Space Rangers. The conversation was flowing when Leo was contacted by Kendrix with the news that they were after Psycho Pink. Before Kai and the others could make another move, a swarm of stingwingers appeared. Kai and the others were soon into battle with the stingwingers. Once they had them defeated they were off to help Kendrix and Cassie. Kai, Damon, Maya, and Leo were in their Megazord. Psycho Pink had already transform into an enormous creature. They gave it everything they go to defeat her. Help come in the form of the Astro Megazord. Together they were able to defeat Psycho Pink. Quickly Kai and the others were on the ground racing towards a huge pink funnel. Before they got there a huge explosion erupted and then the sky cleared. By the time Kai and the others reached Cassie, Kendrix was simply a clear form hovering above the ground. Kai could not believe his close friend was gone. As he took it in, Kendrix pledged that she would always be there for them. In the days that followed, Kai really missed Kendrix. They had been friends for a long time and it hurt to no longer have her there to share in the cooking, working out or to help with the scientific matters. But in the midst of Kai's sorrow, someone came to help. Karone became the Pink Galaxy Ranger and she fit in perfectly with Kai and the others.
Things would begin to get very strange for Kai and the others. It had been decided that the Galaxy Book should be lock up. An attempt had been made to take the book. The man had been questioned as to why he had tried to take the book, but he gave no answers. Although Kai had never seen this man before, he felt drawn to him. When he was taken to his holding cell, Kai undid the lock on his hand cuffs. Before Kai could leave, the man began to talk to him. He told him that he was the Guardian of the book and that he knew that Kai was the Blue Ranger. Kai was startled. The Guardian told Kai that he could see in the future or past and that he knew that Kai would help him. Kai returned to his quarters a bit shaken. When he told the others about the Guardian, they were skeptical. But Kai felt that the Guardian was right. It was his destiny to help him retrieve the Galaxy book.
When Kai returned the following morning, the Guardian was in bad shape. They needed to act quickly. Kai managed to sneak the Guardian out of his cell and they agreed to meet at the mountain dome. Kai then proceed to take the Galaxy book without anyone noticing. As he raced on his astro cycle to meet the Guardian, Kai hoped he was doing the right thing. Kai arrived at the mountain dome and got an unexpected visitor - Divot. Divot wanted the Galaxy book to make him stronger and more powerful. The Guardian arrived and a fight broke out between the two. Unfortunately the Guardian could not complete the fight, as he could not survive in Terra Venture's atmosphere. Kai raced to the Guardian's side, but it was too late. The Guardian made Kai the new protector of the Galaxy book and then vanish in a stream of light.
Kai was still stunned by the Guardian sudden demise, when Divot managed to get hold of the Galaxy book. He did indeed, make himself more powerful. The other Rangers came to help Kai. It was a tough fight, but then Kai remember that the Guardian had given him some crystal like stones to help. Activating the stones, Kai and the other Rangers became more powerful as well. The fight exalted into a zord fight, with Divot deprived of his new strength. Kai and the others went back to retrieve the Galaxy book. There was a force of energy around it and it threw them off their feet. When Kai and the others managed to get back to their feet, they approached the Galaxy book cautiously. Kai reach for the book and held it in his hands. Suddenly a strange storm started to brew. Kai and the others raced through one of the tunnels and slowly stopped. Nothing looked familiar to any of them. As they stood puzzled, Kai realized that they were now in the Lost Galaxy.
To keep things even more off balance, none of Terra Venture's navigations worked correctly. They had no idea where they where and how to return to their own Galaxy. Much to everyone's amazement, a dragon carrying a castle approached Terra Venture. Commander Stanton went to access the strange creature, flanked by Kai and Mike. Captain Mutiny introduced himself and told Commander Stanton that he had a machine that could clear up their instructions and get them home. The machine was on his home planet. Commander Stanton sent a squadron to pick up to follow Captain Mutiny and pick up the machine. Kai and the other Rangers discreetly followed as well. They watched the crate being carried away and decided to explore while they were there. Much to Kai's disgust, they discovered Captain Mutiny's real purpose. He captured lost ship and made the crew into his slaves. Although Kai wanted to freed the slaves, he began to become concerned about what was in the crate heading towards Terra Venture. They made an agreement. They would discovered what was in the crate and then return to freed the slaves.
Kai was correct in being concerned about the crate heading towards Terra Venture. By the time the Rangers arrived at Terra Venture, the crate had already been opened. And Gunchor, a huge underground monster, was released upon Terra Venture. It was hard, but Kai and the others managed to defeat Gunchor. Unfortunately they were unable to freed the slaves. Kai reported back to the other Rangers. Captain Mutiny's planet had fallen off their scanners.
Kai and the other Rangers were kept busy during all these. Hexuba, a monster working for Captain Mutiny, came up with a spell that brought formerly defeated monsters back. At first Kai and the others were bewildered by the return of defeated monsters, but they soon went into action. Kai took off in his jet jammer to find Hexuba and break the spell. He found her and a fight broke out between the two. Kai managed to break the crystal ball which was bringing back the monsters. The Rangers no longer had to contend with old monsters, but they still had to contend with Hexuba. Kai and the other Rangers defeated her as well. Time was running out, they needed to get out of the Lost Galaxy. Kai and Leo sat with the Galaxy book, trying to figure out a way to go home. They came up with the idea of reversing the spell that brought them to the lost galaxy. The reversed spell worked. There was an rip that Terra Venture could go through. First, Kai and the others went back to Captain Mutiny's planet to board all the freed slaves. Then it was a race to go through the rip before it closed, but they made it. Kai and the rest of Terra Venture were back in their own galaxy.
New problems loomed for Terra Venture. Terra Venture had sustained a lot of damage. They needed to find a new planet. And there was one close by. Kai was as excited as everyone else about the new planet. He helped get Terra Venture ready for the docking procedure. Then Trakeena began firing upon Terra Venture. Terra Venture crashed into a moon. Kai quickly put out some of the small fires that had broken out. Commander Stanton began ex of Terra Venture. The citizens were placed into shuttles heading for the new planet. No one could bring personnel items. Kai kept things moving smoothly. A young girl had a few things with her and Kai stopped her. Kai told her that she had to leave her personnel belongings. She asked if she could just bring a picture of her family. Kai took one look at the picture and told her yes. He no longer followed everything by the book. Once everyone was off Terra Venture, the Rangers board the Astro Megaship to continue onto the new planet. Trakeena was relentless in her pursuit and came after the shuttles and the Astro Megaship. Kai and the others put the Astro Megaship on auto destruct, and after clearing the bay, took off in their jet jammers. The explosion threw everyone. Kai, Maya, Karone, and Damon made it to the new world. They were helping Alpha out of the bushes, when Kai noticed that Leo was not around. He became concerned and began looking for him.
Finally Kai and the others got work from Mike. Leo was on Terra Venture, which was heading towards the planet, battling Trakeena. Kai and the others got on their jet jammers and headed towards Terra Venture. When they got there, they joined in the battle. Trakeena was now a green creature with even stronger powers than before. Kai and the other Rangers fought hard. In the end Trakeena was destroyed. But there was still problems for the Rangers. Terra Venture was still heading towards a crash conclusion with the new world. Their Megazord appeared and slowed Terra Venture down. No one on the planet was harmed and neither were the Rangers or Galactabeasts. Much cheering followed the Rangers as they went into the crowds.
Kai noticed Leo and Maya walk off together and he, along with Karone and Damon, followed as well. Maya made the startling discovery that they were on Mironi. She then instructed them that they were to return the quasar sabers for the next set of warriors. With mixed emotions, Kai returned his saber into the stone. Once all the quasar sabers were set back in the stone, dozens of streams of lights began weaving their way through the stones. Slowly Maya's home came back to life. As Kai and the others greeted Maya's people, there was one more surprise for them all. In a glowing light, Kendrix returned to them. Only waiting till Maya was done with her hug, Kai raced to give his friend a hug. Their happiness knew no bounds. Even the galactabeasts got into the spirit of things.
Kai would find himself pulling his quasar saber from the stone once again. He and Maya headed towards Earth, in time to help Carter. Carter, the Red Lightspeed Rescue Ranger, was trying to help a young girl find her mom. He was battling ghouls when Kai and Maya joined in the fight. Together they made quick work of the ghouls. Carter couldn't believe he was meeting the Galaxy Rangers. Kai noticed the young girl and they went to her aid. Kai even stop to pick up Heather's red ball. Together they headed back to the Aquabase. There Kai meet the rest of the Lightspeed Rescue Rangers. He also saw Leo there. Leo filled everyone in on what was happening with Trakeena. Apparently Trakeena had returned to Earth and was draining people's life force to become stronger.
All the Rangers, along with Heather, left the base. Their first encounter with Tri-Skull did not go well, but the Rangers were not about to quit. The new plan was to excavate the building where Heather's mom was being held. Heather pulled the fire alarm and Kai, and the others help get the people out of the building safely. Kai was outside the building when Chad called them over. Leo and Carter were in trouble. Quickly they had an flotation mattress at the ready. Soon Leo, Carter, as well as Kendrix and Damon came falling out the building. Before they could even gather their wits, they were confronted by Diabolico. Kai and all the Rangers were ready for him. Diabolico soon found himself bailing out of the situation, but not before he did some damage to Trakeena. He flung a poisoned dagger towards Trakeena and this caused her to mutate into a huge monster. It was an intense battle, but combining all their power and weapons they were able to defeat Trakeena. The Lightspeed Rescue Rangers would have liked to have the Galaxy Rangers stay, but Kai and the others were more than ready to head back to Mironi and all the adventures awaiting them there.
