KATANA
Katana - Voiced by Mark Wright
Over a hundred and sixty years ago, Katana space ship crashed on Earth. He was injured and found by a Samurai who healed his wounds. Afterwards, Katana adopted the ways of the Samurai and became the first alien Samurai. Katana had swore to protect the city of Kyoto, Japan. Katana was pulled from his past, through a time portal, by Emperor Gruumm. Katana walked through the time portal and was confused by what he saw. He asked himself where is this? Katana wondered around present day Kyoto. He noted the places that looked familiar, yet different. Katana saw several people trying to enter Kyoto on armored dragons. Katana chased them away. Katana turned around and noted five young people in an aggressive stance. He assumed they were warriors, intent on taking Kyoto. Jack told Katana that they were SPD. Sky told Katana to surrender quietly. Katana told them that he would never surrender his sword to anyone but his emperor. Katana and the cadets battle. At one point, Katana had Jack on the ground with a weapon. Katana knew he had Jack. Curious, he picked up Jack's laser and look at it. Katana did not recognize the weapon and handed it back to Jack. He would not fight an unarm opponent. Jack was surprised, but as soon as Jack got to his feet, the battle broke out again. Broodwing happened to be close by and didn't like the odds. Broodwing released several Krybots and soon the cadets were battling Krybots while Katana left them to their battle. Katana continued exploring the city, still confused. Broodwing appeared and told Katana that the Rangers wanted to take Kyoto and that he had tried to help by sending soldiers, but the Rangers had already defeated them. Katana was furious and vowed that the Rangers would not take Kyoto. Broodwing left and Katana continued his exploration. He had found his family temple and didn't understand why everything looked so much older. Shortly, Sky, Syd, Bridge, Jack, and Z appeared. Katana thought it was fitting that they should lose to him, at his family temple. The cadets suited up and another battle broke out between Katana and the Rangers. Katana once again slipped away. The Rangers were soon kept busy with a giant robot taking building from Kyoto. Katana headed for the woods. He was there when Jack found him. Jack knew that Katana was looking for a way back home. Jack told Katana that the time portal would be opening soon. Katana was furious when Jack told him that he had been used by Emperor Gruumm, and that it was Gruumm who wanted to take over Kyoto and the rest of the world, not the Rangers. Katana told Jack that there was only one way to recover the truth - a duel. Jack was nervous, but agreed. Jack suited up and Katana and Red Ranger battle. Eventually Red Ranger broke Katana's helmet in two. Katana accepted the fact that the red one had been telling the truth. Red Ranger apologized as he ran the judgment scanner on Katana. The judgment scanner found Katana not guilty. The time portal opened. Jack told Katana that was his way or he could stay with them and help protect Kyoto now. Katana felt that Kyoto was in safe hands with the Rangers, and he needed to go back to his own time to protect Kyoto. Katana stepped through the time portal and returned to his own time.
