SOPHIE

Sophie - Natacha Hutchison

Sophie is a D Squad cadet.  She and the rest of her squad were being trained by the B Squad cadets.  Sky told them to remember that you never know when your enemy will strike.  Emperor Gruumm and his goons rarely give advance notice.  One member of Sophie's squad stepped forward and told Sky that if he was attacked by the Krybots, he would be ready.  Several Krybots suddenly appeared and Squad D was under attack.  B Squad stepped back and watched.  Sophie held her own, while the rest of her squad got beat by the Krybots.  The simulation ended, and Sophie realized she was the only one left standing and still in the fight stance.  She quickly assumed an attention stance as the rest of her squad gathered around her.  Sky told them that he hoped next time they will be more prepared and dismissed them.  Sky told them that they would regroup after lunch.  The D Squad cadets left the simulation room.  Syd approached Sophie and told her she had great reflexes.  Sophie was thrilled with the compliment and told Syd that she guess she got a few lucky hits in.  Bridge told Sophie that if she kept it up, she would be ready for C Squad in no time.  Sophie was thrilled.  Jack cautioned Sophie that the Krybots were mindless nuts and bolts and that the aliens they fought were a lot tougher.  Sophie wasn't fazed and told Jack that she was sure that there were a few cyborgs that were tough.  Sky joined the group and told Sophie that was why all cyborgs belong in the scrap heap, where they couldn't cause problems.  Sophie glanced downwards - it was comments like that that made Sophie keep a secret from everyone at SPD.  Later, Bridge took Sophie to the super cool command center.  Bridge pointed out all the buttons and switches.  Bridge introduced Sophie to their resident genius, Dr. Manx.  Bridge had recommended Sophie as the new computer intern.  Bridge also introduced Sophie to Commander Cruger.  Sophie couldn't believe she was meeting both of them in person.  Bridge told them that Sophie knew a lot about computers, probably more than he did.  Sophie told Commander Cruger that it had always been a dream of hers to be a part of SPD.  Commander Cruger told her from what he had heard, she was off to a good start.  Sophie beamed and then noticed Kat working on a computer program.  She asked Kat what it was.  Kat told her it was an upgrade to their defense system and it would be fantastic if she ever got the bio rhythms figured out.  Commander Cruger had completed faith in Kat.  Sophie knew she could help, but didn't know how to go about it.  The ground and building began to shake and the alarms went off.  When the shaking stopped, Commander Cruger asked Kat what it was.  Kat told him it was an unidentified source at sector 17.  Commander Cruger sent Kat, Bridge, and the rest of B Squad to investigate.  Later, Kat returned to the command center with no answers for Commander Cruger and only hope whatever had crawled out of the massive hole in sector 17 was long gone.  Sophie tried to discreetly entered the computer's defense system.  Kat spotted her and asked her what she was doing.  Sophie, nervously, told Kat that she heard that Kat was having problems with the new defense program and she thought she could help.  Kat told Sophie that the defense computer was a top level security clearance and she hoped she understood.  Sophie told her that of course she did.  Sophie left the command center and entered the eating area where she spotted Bridge banding on the food machine.  She went over and pushed a few buttons and his food appeared.  Bridge asked her how she did it.  Sophie told him that he had to be gentle and just because it was a machine, didn't mean Bridge shouldn't show it some respect.  Bridge told the machine sorry and walked with Sophie to a table.  Bridge asked Sophie how things were going.  Bridge told Sophie that he knew that Commander Cruger could be intimidating, but that his bark is worse than his bite.  Sophie laughed.  She told Bridge that she guess things were going well, she just wanted to fit in.  Bridge told her to look at the Ranger team.  Everyone was different, but Bridge felt that was why it worked.  Sophie was nervous about making a mistake.  Bridge told her that it was okay, that's what made you human.  Sophie looked downcast.  Bridge noticed and told her he could tell whether she had the right stuff.  Sophie saw Bridge starting to remove his gloves and asked him what he was doing.  Bridge told her that he was going to read her aura.  Sophie panicked and got up.  She told Bridge that she needed to get back to work and took off.  Later, Sophie overheard Commander Cruger and Kat talking in the lab.  Kat had gotten the results from the samples of the massive hole in sector 17.  Kat told Commander Cruger that it was made from an alloy that was only from one creature.  Commander Cruger who that creature was - Goradon.  Commander Cruger asked Kat if the new defense system was ready.  Kat replied that some of it was done, but the rest would take several weeks.  Sophie decided that she would help speed up the process.  She went to the command center when it was emptied and made her way to the computer.  She had just started working on the computer when she heard Kat's voice.  Sophie quickly hid as Kat walked into the room.  Sophie's shoe made a squeaking sound on the floor as she tried to leave.  Kat heard the noise, but did not see Sophie.  Sophie managed to sneak out of the command center without Kat spotting her.  The following day, Sophie was with the D Squad in another training session with B Squad.  Suddenly several lasers were fired and Valko appeared with several Krybots.  Sophie and the rest of D Squad was moved towards the back.  Valko told them that he wanted their Series One Processor Hyper Intelligent Encryptor.  Sophie lowered her head, she knew what Valko was talking about, even if the rest of the cadets did not.  B Squad suited up and a battle broke out.  Valko went after Sophie, but was stopped by Green Ranger.  Sophie had fallen and hurt her arm.  Red Ranger told Green Ranger to take the cadets inside.  Green Ranger lead D Squad cadets inside.  The building shook as it was being fired upon and Sophie fell again.  Green Ranger asked her if she was okay and she told him that she was.  Green Ranger got Sophie safely to her room and Sophie told him to go help the Rangers.  After Green Ranger left, Sophie entered her room.  She began making repairs on her arm.  Sophie was still working on her arm when Bridge and his friends walked in to see how she was doing.  She noticed their stunned looks when they realized that she was a cyborg.  Sophie didn't know what to say.  Jack asked her how come she didn't say anything and Sophie told them that she was afraid that she would be kicked out of the academy.  Sky reminded everyone that the computer had been hacked into with no human traced.  Sophie confessed that she had done it, but that she was only trying to help.  She appealed to Bridge - telling him that she was just as loyal to SPD as they were.  Bridge didn't know what to believe and Sky expelled Sophie.  Sophie slowly got up and left the room.  She walked along outside until her arm began to bother her again.  Sophie leaned against a wall, unsure of what she was going to do.  Valko appeared and Sophie became frightened.

Valko tried to drag Sophie away, but she wasn't willing to be captured without a fight.  She yelled at Valko to let her go and referred to Valko as a freak.  She told him that she had friends in high places.  Valko did not care.  Valko referred to Sophie as a super computer, which Sophie did not like.  Sophie managed to break free and she battled with Valko.  She told Valko that this super computer had a name, it was Sophie and she would never work for evil.  When Valko was down, she took off running.  Valko soon came after her again.  Sophie continued to run and ended up at Piggy's.  She hid under a table and could hear Valko when he entered Piggy's.  Valko asked Piggy where Sophie was and Piggy told him that Sophie was hiding under the table.  Sophie cried out no as Valko lifted the table and saw her.  Valko stunned Sophie and she left with him to Weary Woods.  Valko connected Sophie to several wires and the computer as he generate more power for Goradon.  Valko told Sophie it wouldn't hurt her as he was a robot.  As Valko began working, Sophie jerk several times as green energy surged through her body.  She was powering up Goradon and it was not something she wanted to do.  Sophie struggled against her bonds.  At one point, Valko left to battle the Rangers who had appeared in Weary Woods.  Sophie had not freed herself by the time Valko had returned.  Valko had lost patience and with determination, fired Sophie and the computer up again.  Sophie was jerked severely several times.  She decided that she had had enough and was determined to fight back.  Sophie managed to break free and escape once again.  She reached the city, but Valko was right behind her.  Valko told Sophie that for a cyborg, she had a lot of spirit.  Sophie was on the ground and Valko was coming after her.  Sophie screamed, using a high pitch frequency.  She called out to Commander Cruger for help.  Valko dragged Sophie to her feet and was about to do her damage when he was stopped by Shadow Ranger.  Shadow Ranger told him that wasn't the way to treat a person.  Valko sneered and told Shadow Ranger that Sophie was only a cyborg.  Shadow Ranger told Valko that he was only a criminal.  Shadow Ranger instructed Sophie to stand back as Shadow Ranger battled Valko.  Shadow Ranger used his containment strike to place Valko in a containment devise.  Shadow Ranger made sure Sophie was okay and told her it wasn't over yet.  They raced back together to SPD headquarters.  Sophie and Shadow Ranger entered the command center where Kat had just freed the Delta Squad Megazord from being devoured by Goradon.  Shadow Ranger ordered the Rangers to return to headquarters.  B Squad cadets entered the command center and Bridge was happy to see that Sophie was okay.  Shadow Ranger informed the group that this was not the time for teary reunions.  Shadow Ranger told the group that they cannot defeat Goradon with the weapons that they had and phase two was not online.  Sophie volunteered to help them.  She revealed her arm and a small hole.  Sophie told them that if they plug her into the computer, she could get the program running.  Kat was hesitant as she knew that Sophie could also cause them a lot of damage.  Sophie watched the cadets' faces anxiously as Bridge told them that he trusted Sophie and wanted to give her this chance.  Jack, Syd, and Z agreed.  Shadow Ranger asked Sky, as the decision had to unanimous.  Sky took a moment and then looked at Sophie.  Sky told Sophie that apparently he was a monster as well, so no more judgments and that she was alright in his book.  Sophie smiled.  Shadow Ranger ordered the cadets back to their megazord.  Sophie plugged herself in and soon she and Kat had phase two online.  Phase two was the new Delta Command Megazord and the Rangers were able to destroyed Goradon.  The following day, Sophie entered the eating area and noticed Sky pounding at the food machine, frustrated.  She walked over and pushed a few buttons and got it to work for him.  Sky had just said that robots never work right.  Sky tried to apologized.  Sophie smiled and told him that she knew what he had meant.  Bridge walked in and announced to them all the Sophie was being transferred to the Fada quadrant to overhaul their systems.  Sophie was thrilled.  She was going to be able to use her programming to help people.
