On assignment, the Power Rangers get ready to arrest two thieves trying to steal a car.  Sky and Jack ran into each other and instead of helping the others, they argue.  Bridge, Z, and Sydney managed to capture the thieves.  Jack is upset that he wasn't in on the arrest and asks who is the leader of the squad.  The others look at him in disbelief while Sky informs Jack that he is the leader.  The following day,  at headquarters, Commander Crueger tells the Bridge, Z, Syd, and Sky that Emperor Gruumm had launched his attack on Earth.  Something has happened to the Squad A Rangers and now it's up to Squad B to defend Earth.  Jack sleepily walks into the meeting and the others fill him in.  Commander Crueger asks Jack if he is ready to lead the team and Jack, still sleepily, replies that he is.  Everyone, except Jack, leaves.  Boom walks up to Jack and can't believe he is not excited to be the Red Ranger.  Boom tells Jack that as the Red Ranger he can tell the others what to do and they have to listen.  Jack considers the possibilities.  Meanwhile, Sydney walks into her room and is not thrilled to find it a mess and Z there as well.  Sydney is surprised when Z informs her that it is also her room now.  Jack walks in on their argument and orders them to clean their room before training session.  Jack leaves, and Sydney and Z muttered under their breath that Jack is a jerk.

Commander Crueger finds Jack reading a comic book.  Commander Cruger inquires about the rest of the Rangers.  Jack tells him that he has sent the Rangers on the mud/swamp training course.  Commander Cruger comments that it is a difficult course and asks if Jack's training is reading the comic book.  Jack tells Commander Crueger as the leader, he has decided he needs some me time.  Throughout the conversation cadets walk in bringing Jack's laundry and food.  Jack goes to the mud/swamp training course and lounges as the rest of the Rangers struggled through the course.  Covered in mud, they are not happy with him.  Jack tells them they can have five minutes to wash up before karate class.  They leave, with Sky muttering under his breath.  Jack tells him that he hears him.  Sky tells Jack that he may be the Red Ranger, but he is not a leader.  The Rangers are summoned to a meeting with Commander Cruger.  Commander Cruger announces that he is giving them zords.  Z, Bridge, Syd, and Sky no longer want Jack as their leader and Commander Cruger tells Jack to turn in his morpher.  Jack turns his morpher in and is upset.  The rest of the Rangers leave to use their new zords against the monster.  The Rangers are having difficulty defeating the monster.  At headquarters, Jack watches in frustration.  Commander Cruger tells him that they have no one to lead them.  Jack tells Crueger that he was their leader.  Commander Cruger asks Jack if he had treated the Rangers in a manner that they would respect him.  Jack replies that he didn't, instead he had abuse his power.  Commander Cruger gives Jack back his morpher and Jack joins the Rangers in their battle against the monster.  The Rangers form their zord and battle the monster in his zord.  After the Rangers destroy the monster's zord, they leave their zords to battle the monster.  Jack feels he owes the Rangers one and takes on the monster himself.  The rest of the Rangers feel Jack has learned his lesson and join the Jack in his battle against the monster.  The monster is captured and contained.  Afterwards, Z, Syd, Bridge, and Sky have a meeting with Commander Cruger.  Sky listens in silence as each member tells Commander Cruger they want Jack back as their leader.  Later, Sky watches Jack on the training field and silently accepts the fact that Jack is their leader.
