BASKIN
Baskin - Paul Willis
Baskin is a great warrior given the task of guarding the evil. The evil is a stone from the abyss. The evil hibernates every one hundred years. The evil has immense power and can level mountains and boil oceans when it is awake. Baskin keeps the evil hidden inside a book in Ye Olde Bookstore. A sudden storm had come up and Baskin went to check on the evil and fearfully noted the evil had awaken. Baskin knew the most treacherous creatures would try to come after the evil. The following day, Baskin heard some young people enter his store. He popped his head out between the shelves of books and adopted a dopey shop keeper character. The young people (Sky, Jack, Syd, Z, and Bridge) asked Baskin several questions. They wanted to know if he worked with anyone. Baskin told them it was just him and J.B. He then introduced J.B. - his pet turtle - and claim he helped him on slow days. Baskin laughed at his own joke. Except for Bridge, the rest did not find the joke amusing. They asked him about the evil stone. Baskin pretended to not know what the group was talking about. He rattled off that he had Rolling Stone, Romancing the Stone, and Sword and the Stone, but not Evil Stone. Kat contacted the Rangers about an attack on the westside and the cadets left. Baskin immediately dropped his dopey character and checked inside the book on the evil. Moments later, Drakel entered the bookstore demanding the evil. Baskin turned to face him and told him that Drakel didn't really expect him to hand over the evil. Baskin and Drakel battle. Baskin did very well against Drakel, but Drakel was insistent. During the battle, Baskin landed hard and the book containing the evil slid straight towards Drakel. Baskin was very worried when Drakel picked up the evil and told him not without a containment field. Drakel did not listen - he had more power with the evil and planned to use it. Later, the Rangers arrested and contained Drakel. With Drakel in a containment device, his powers reverted to normal and the evil was released. The cadets returned the evil, in a small case, to Baskin. Bridge told him that it was as good as gold. Syd commented that Baskin had really fooled them with his dopey shop keeper act. Baskin told them that in the two thousand years of guarding the hideous thing, it was the first time it was taken from him. Sky was not sympathetic as he told Baskin he now had another hundred years to get in shape. Baskin thought it was time for a new location. Baskin told the cadets that he and J.B. were moving to New Zealand where no one would find them. He told the cadets to keep up the fight before vanishing.
