PHILIPS
Philips - Douglas Fisher
Philips works in the Collins' mansion. He is their butler and has formed a close relationship to Wes, the son of Mr. Collins. Wes was in the kitchen sampling everything when Philips walked in. He had two suits with him and asked Wes which one he would like to wear to the board meeting. Wes didn't like either suit and he really didn't want to go to the board meeting - the meetings bored him. Philips replied that is why they are called bored meetings. Philips continued to follow Wes out of the kitchen and into the grand hall. Wes noticed the young girl, Jen, sitting and asked Philips what she was doing here. Wes had come to Jen's aid earlier in the day. Philips told Wes that the young girl was here to see him. Wes thought Jen wanted to thank him, but Jen wanted his help. Mr. Collins walked in and told Wes he hoped he was ready for the board meeting as he disliked being late. Wes told him he had a date with Jen and introduce Jen to his father. Wes and Jen hurried out the front door. Mr. Collins had watched them go and then turned around and faced Philips with a sour look. Philips wisely said nothing.
Philips also was the Collin's chauffeur and drove Mr. Collins and Wes to various places in the limo. The limo was parked close to a park and Philips was polishing it when a baseball hit the hood. Philips simply commented nice shot. Mr. Collins got the baseball and when a young boy, Frankie, came up to retrieve it, Mr. Collins refused to give him the ball, wanting to teach Frankie a lesson. Frankie walked away deject and Philips drove Mr. Collins to his next meeting. Later, in the mansion, Philips was walking up the stairs carrying a tray. Philips spotted Wes sitting and looking sad. Philips asked Wes if he needed something. Wes told him that he did need something, but his father wasn't going to give it to him. Wes confided to Philips that he had always wanted to follow in his father's footsteps, but now...Philips replied that you wanted to make your own footsteps. Wes nodded. Philips told him he would find the way if he follow his heart. Later that day, the grand hall was swarm with reporters. Earlier a busload of children had been ransomed for ten million dollars and the reporters found out that Mr. Collins had supplied the ten million dollars. It was only technically true, as it was his money, but it had been Wes who had snuck the money out and gave it to Nadira as ransom money. In the midst of the questions, Wes told his dad that he was going to make his own path. Wes got to the front door and looked at Philips. Philips nodded and smiled.
Philips was pouring coffee for Mr. Collins outside their home. Wes arrived and Philips and Mr. Collins smiled at him. Mr. Collins offered Wes some breakfast, but Wes decline. Mr. Collins gave Philips a small nod and Philips left the two of them alone.
Philips drove the limo as Mr. Collins stare out the window, desperately searching for the sight of his son. Mr. Collins had Philips stop the limo. Philip got out of the limo, surprise as he watch Mr. Collins walk towards a woman with her young son. Mr. Collins removed his jacket. Mr. Collins wrap his jacket around the young boy and told his mother that his limo would take them to the hospital. Mr. Collins carried the boy to the limo and gently placed him in. The mother gratefully thanked Mr. Collins. Mr. Collins told her that the hospital would take good care of them. Mr. Collins urged Philips to drive to the hospital. Philips got back into the limo, and drove to the hospital. He left Mr. Collins behind to search for Wes on foot.
