DON

Don - Eddie Mekka

Don was mopping the floors at the Turtle Cove bowling lanes.  A young man, Max, asked him if he had seen Don.  Don's back was turned to Max and he told him he didn't know any Don.  Max told him Don was a champion bowler.  Don turned around and Max was stunned to realized he was talking to Don.  Don was not happy to see Max.  He told Max that he was a champion and just walked away from it.  Don told Max to leave him alone and walked out of the building.  In the past, Don had been a champion bowler and he had spotted Max bowling.  He became Max's mentor and taught him a lot about bowling.  Max walked out as well.  Max wasn't ready to give up.  Max told Don that he really needed to learn the tornado spin - a legendary spin that Don had created.  Don told Max that he didn't help quitters.  Cole stepped forward and asked Don to forgive Max, that Max had a lot of work to do, and still does.  Don tried to walk away, but Danny stopped him.  Danny told Don that Max was loyal, a hard worker, and that Max would make him proud.  Don told Danny that once he thought that was true and then walked away.  Quietly, Don watched as Max tried and tried to perfect the tornado spin.  He finally walked up and stopped Max.  Don told Max that he was going to hurt his wrist like he had done, if Max kept it up.  Don started to show Max how to do the tornado spin.  Alyssa, Taylor, Cole, and Danny were impressed.  Max perfected the spin and told Don he had to go.  Don gave Max his lucky ball and wished him well.  Later, Max, Taylor, Cole, Danny, and Alyssa returned to the bowling alley.  Don was teaching a group of kids how to ball.  Max returned the bowling ball to Don and thanked him.  Don told Max that maybe, when he is done with his work, he could come back and work on being a bowling champion again.  Max grinned.  Don rolled the bowling bowl and hit a strike, to the cheers of the kids and his friends.
