WILLIE

Willie - J.D. Hall

Willie is the owner and operator of Willie's Roadhouse in Turtle Cove.  Willie's Roadhouse has a small diner, a pool table, and a jukebox.  He just came out of the kitchen, when he noticed a young man, dressed strangely, playing pool.  Willie stayed silent and was impressed by the shot the young man (Merrick) made.  The door opened and several men came in.  Some of them stood by the jukebox and the rest gathered at the counter.  They were rude and one of them hollered at Willie that the jukebox was broken, because he couldn't hear any music.  Willie told them that they had to pay, like he had told them before.  One of the men at the counter took a can of soda and drank it.  Willie told them that he had told them not to come back, they were not welcome here.  The man with the soda tossed it and it landed by Merrick.  One of the men teased Willie that he was going to cry.  Suddenly the soda can flew back and hit the man who had been drinking it.  The men surrounded Merrick and Willie was sure that Merrick was going to get beat.  Merrick and the men went outside and Merrick quickly defeated them all and had them running.  Willie had gone outside as well to watch and he was very impressed.  He applauded Merrick and thanked him.  Merrick's stomach growled and Willie offered him some food.  As Merrick ate, Willie told him that he could use a guy like him and there was a spare bedroom in the back.  Merrick accepted the job.  Willie asked if Merrick was from around here and Merrick told him no. Willie told him that he would have to get him some new clothes.  Willie came out with a box of clothes and Merrick started trying on things.  Willie thought the first outfit was a little too slick and went back to the box to get a different shirt.  When he turned around, Merrick was gone.  Willie assumed that the first shirt worked fine for Merrick.

Willie watched as Merrick played pool.  Merrick was frustrated.  Willie walked over towards Merrick and told him that he has watched him practice the shot over and over again.  Willie decided to show Merrick a new move.  Merrick was surprised that Willie played pool.  Willie told him he used to play pool when he was young, but he liked to keep the past in the past.  Willie did the shot and Merrick was very impressed.  Willie bent down to get all the balls and set up the next game.  He told Merrick that they were a lot a like, didn't talk much about themselves.  When Willie glanced up, Merrick was gone.  Later, Merrick returned and Willie asked him if he was ready to play the game they had started earlier.  Merrick and Willie played a game of pool.

Willie was drying up some dishes.  Merrick had some friends by, Alyssa and Cole.  They were all trying to figure out where Kite had run off to.

Willie asked Merrick if he wanted to play a game of pool.  Merrick sat at a table, his frozen animal crystals in front of him.  Merrick told Willie he didn't feel much like playing.  Willie shrugged and walked away.

Willie noticed Merrick heading out the door.  He asked him if he was going to go away without saying goodbye.  Merrick told him it was time for him to leave and was sure Willie could handle the place on his own.  Willie had rather enjoyed Merrick's company, but he didn't try to convince Merrick to stay.  Instead, he asked Merrick where he was going.  Merrick was unsure, so much had change, he wasn't sure where he belong anymore and then walked out the door.
