A Pressing Engagement

At the Youth Center, Jason attempts to break a bench pressing record. Ernie gives him encouragement as he counts off the bench presses. Kimberly is on the balance beam, practicing her routine. Ernie is eating a sub and has a drink as he counts off. He loses count after a sip of his drink, but Jason remembers what the last count was. Kimberly hops off the balance beam and walks over to where a crowd has gathered around Ernie to watch Jason. Kimberly asks Ernie where Jase is at, and Ernie tells her the count. Kimberly is very excited for Jason, as Jason is close to breaking the record. Ernie adds that Angel Grove High School will have a new champion. Jason asks Ernie what the last count is and in the excitement, Ernie has forgotten. Ernie leans down and asks Jason if he can start again. Jason can't believe it.
From her palace, Rita Repulsa watched Jason try to beat a bench pressing record at the Juice Bar. Rita: He's not so tough when he's on his own. Rita growled. Rita: That's it! I'll send Goldar and a monster down to separate Jason from his friends, and then tear him apart. With him out of the way, the rest of the Power Rangers will be at my mercy. Rita went in to start her plan.
At the Youth Center, Jason tried once more to beat the bench press record. Kimberly and Ernie were very excited as Jason neared his goal. Zack had entered the Youth Center on a skateboard and was riding around. Someone in the crowd noticed the large bubble Kimberly had just blown. Zack lost control of the skateboard and crashed right into Kimberly. The crash caused Jason to drop his bar. Kimberly was grossed out by the gum all over his face. Zack's face was covered as well, but he was more good natured about it. Jason was frustrated to have gotten so close to beating the record, but he was too exhausted to try again.
Rita had continued to spy on the Youth Center, and she is amused when Jason has failed again. Rita comments that nothing is going right for Jason. Rita wants an easy plan to take out Jason. Baboo and Squatt volunteer themselves, since it is an easy plan. Instead Rita calls for Goldar. Goldar wants to separate Jason from his friends with a monster, and then take out Jason when he is on his own. Rita goes to Finster for a monster. When Finster doesn't come up with one right away, Rita teases Finster that he is losing his touch. Finster comes up with a monster - King Sphinx. King Sphinx can flap his wings and transport people to other areas. Rita is pleased, although she threatens Finster with her fist.
